According to a mid-year survey by OnePoll, 74% of Americans used at least one fitness app during quarantine, and 60% enjoyed their home workouts so much, they now plan on canceling their gym membership for good.
In May, meditation remained a primary focus. Calm grossed $7.7 million and kept its top spot as the highest-grossing health and fitness app, while MyFitnessPal ranked second with more than $6.5 million in gross revenue. Strava, an app with built-in GPS that tracks your workouts, came in at third place.

Hi, i saw that Strava imposed some changes to 3rd party apps and that you made some changes to the syncing process. I guess this is why I saw that i was missing a couple of months worth of activities.
thanks for that David. I has been a couple of days since i force imported missing activities but it has had no impact - the only thing that has moved my fitness has been the activities I have done since.
The CTL (fitness) and ATL (fatigue) calculation in Intervals should match TP very closely. What might be different is the TSS (training load) for individual activities. This depends on FTP (for power), resting HR, LTHR and max HR for heart rate and so on. So if you could look at some of the activities during that time and compare Intervals.icu load vs TP TSS that might help resolve this issue.
And on TSS, there is also a spread with some volatility but still quite rangebound, with the exception of mid August (which is when I think I force reuploaded the missing Strava data in Intervals), where the TSS are just wildly different (by more than 5x).
and the massive differences in TSS between TP and Intervals in the middle of the bottom chart comes from the fact that Load is 2 in Intervals vs 100-150 in TP for two activities. Not sure why that is though. Did the resync of the activity, but it made no difference.
Instead, I was only able to get a file called HKQuantityTypeIdentifierDistanceWalkingRunning.csv but it records the distance every second. So to find out how far I ran, I would have to add up all the distances for all the seconds during the run. It's surprising that apple doesn't make run data more easily available to users.
From your post, we understand that you're looking to export your fitness data from the Activity app. You're able to export this data, and it's exported in XML format. Take a look at the following guides for details on collecting and exporting that data:
It turned out her Bluetooth was turned off on her watch. When we try to download the app back to her phone the only option is to open it in the App Store. There is no option to download it. She would rather have the app on her phone than have to open the App Store and search for fitness each time she wants to look at her stats.
While there has been a sharp decline in health and fitness app downloads post-pandemic, retention rates and revenue have increased, providing strong reasons for optimism, according to a recently released report.
With a return to normalcy following the rise of at-home fitness during the pandemic, a new report by AdQuantum has revealed key findings regarding the health and fitness app industry during and after COVID.
Since then, certain apps have remained popular, despite a return to normalcy. In 2022, there were 1.4 billion health and fitness app downloads, showing consumers are still willing to integrate an app into their wellness journey.
The report reveals that meditation apps, such as Calm (#3 in revenue) and Headspace (#7), are gaining traction globally as consumers seek to de-stress and practice mindfulness throughout their busy days. Aside from stress-reducing activities, the apps also provide sleep aid features in a non-pill form.
The pandemic put a much-needed spotlight on the importance of mental health and has since had long-lasting effects. As AI and machine learning make continued advancements, consumers will likely find meditation (as well as health and fitness apps) becoming more fine-tuned and tailored to their needs and preferences.
As consumers continue to engage in outdoor activities, Strava and AllTrails are along for the ride, offering databases of trails and routes, as well as progress tracking. Outdoor-themed apps are likely to see further enhancements due to their popularity.
Virtual coaches are an emerging trend in health and fitness apps, where consumers can receive guidance and support from virtual trainers. It should also come as no surprise that wearable tech has enhanced apps, motivating users to hit mile markers in their wellness journey.

Endomondo, developers of a GPS-enabled sports tracker app, has had more than 10 million downloads for its fitness application. As of last September the company had about 5 million downloads for its app, which is available on a multitude of mobile platforms, including iPhone, Android, Blackberry, Symbian, Windows Phone, Windows Mobile and Java phones. Endomondo claims that the 10 million download milestone marks a tripling of its user base over the course of the last year. Given the 5 million downloads as of last September, the company also doubled its user base in the past 9 months.
The fitness tracking app has an international following: Only about 25 percent of its user base is in the US. About ten percent of its users are in the UK and an additional 10 percent live in Spain. Other European-based users make up an additional 35 percent of the app's users. About 75 percent of the app's users are men, but it has seen an increase in women downloading the app in the past year. There has been an 8 percentage point increase in the number of female users in the past year, the company said.
Since launching in 2008, Endomondo has helped users track 320 million miles of physical activity. That equates to 1,335 trips to the moon. Running, however, is the most popular fitness activity accounting for 44 percent of total workouts and racking up 87 million miles, or more than 3 million marathons. The third most popular physical activity is walking which totals up to more than 24 million miles. (Note: Complete infographic available at )
