I have a desktop computer and an iPhone. The WiFi here is too unstable, and cellular is expensive. However, the Ethernet connection to my computer is stable and fast.
I need to connect my iPhone to the Internet via USB cable, so I can enjoy stable and fast connection.
My iOS version is 10.3.1, which means jailbreak is unavailable.
Note: I have Bing'ed the Internet and find nothing useful. All the answers seem suspicious or useless at all.
Don't suggest me to buy anything. I don't accept solutions that need any payment.
Don't ask me to try anything else like a laptop or a WiFi router. I want to connect my iPhone to internet with exactly the computer with an Ethernet connection and a USB cable.
I'm not sure that there's a clear understanding of how this technology works, and to say that you won't accept a solution if it requires any expense on your part is going to strongly limit your acceptable solutions.
Since you listed your only hardware as being your desktop computer with a wired ethernet connection, the data lightning-to-USB cable, and your iPhone, then the setup might imply that you want to use your desktop computer for either ICS or a network bridge. But, actually, I have this sneaking suspicion that you are talking about something entirely different which is USB reverse tethering. If you need further clarification on a network bridge or ICS, I could discuss it later but I don't think either will deliver the result that you're looking for. And, as I said before, what I believe you are asking for is USB reverse tethering. It's not a feature that either Android or iOS supports without root.
But, if you changed your mind about purchasing additional equipment, you could set up a wired ethernet connection without rooting your device. You would need the lightning-to-USB cable (which you have), the power adapter for your phone (which you have), a USB-to-ethernet adapter, and the Lightning-to-USB 3 Camera Adapter or a compatible powered USB hub.
Otherwise, it's really not possible to share an ethernet connection with your computer because your phone without root can not perform USB reverse tethering. It's only made possible through additional equipment because of the adapters, and the power-over-ethernet that is made available by connecting all of those adapters.
I agree with Bucko there is no where in the Network+ by Comptia or Cisco that says to split a UTP Cable you will get cross talk on the cable do it right run a separate cable it will save time and headaches in the long run when you start to have problems and splitting a UTP cable you will have problems be the professional do it right the first time.
So let me clarify the understanding of what you currently have. you are currently using an internet connection in the office and this also currently feeds the external office which is 250 metres away. You have a second ISP connection coming into your main comms room but you want to provide this as a wifi service to the area that is 250m away?
Do as DavidLW suggested and replace the UTP with fibre. If you want to do it cheaply and have full management on your link I would suggest looking at Mikrotik routers. Get a couple of RB960PGS (or RB962UiGS-5HacT2HnT if you want wireless as well) with an SPF each and your fibre is sorted. Since Mikrotik units have a built in proxy you can either use that or split the traffic with Vlans
On the whole I have found that Mikrotik is cheap and have devices to solve most hardware requirements. Not to mention the options you have available in RouterOS. I only suggested the devices that I think may be of help, you obviously know your infrastructure better. See the links below for the specs of the mentioned devices.
It sounds like all you need is this, a splitter. This gives you two Cat5/RJ45 ports at each end of the cable, something like this:Forget all that vlan stuff as you will have two completely separate networks
I agree with a few of the suggestions in this thread. You could (should) run fiber with proper hardware at both ends, or set up a point-to-point wireless bridge (Ubiquiti produces nice radios as does Cambium Networks. The Cambium devices are a bit more geared toward large-scale enterprise networks and are very expensive. Ubiquiti provides many more options in the SMB market and are generally easier to configure). VLANs are a great way to segment this network as well, but my primary concern goes back to the length of the Cat 6 cable and the attenuation at 250m. As you increase traffic or introduce more interference, that connection may become very unreliable.
So, in conclusion, I would personally run a fiber link and either use decent layer 3 switches or routers to set up a properly segmented network using VLANs. This way, you will have a very reliable link between offices on which you can build your logical network architecture.

When my ethernet cable is pluged into the modem from my PC, I can get internet just fine; but when I connect to the router (the ethernet cables are connected to the right ports, the cable from the modem goes into the yellow port on the modem and the PC is plugged into one of the lan ports), windows says it needs to find drivers and cannot install the drivers because I do not have the disc. I tried using setup wizard by logging into my router at routerlogin.com (or net?) but it still cannot detect an internet connection. I also tried updating my firmware version but I think the problem is having drivers for the router on my computer.
Your modem may be locked onto the MAC address of your computer. You can try rebooting the modem while the router is plugged into the modem to see if the modem will migrate service to the router. If that doesn't work, then try cloning the MAC address of your computer to the router. You can do this by logging into the router and go the Router MAC Address setting. Select either Use Computer MAC Address to automatically pick up the MAC address from your computer or Use This MAC Address and enter your computer's MAC address manually. Click Apply to save the setting. You may need to reboot the router before the change will take effect. Test Internet connectivity.
Even if my computer (Win 7) shows connectivity tot he internet when the Netgear is connected, I cannot connect to the internet now, every site times out, I cannot connect to the router ip 192.168.1.1 using a browser. With Netgear connected Lan plugs 1,2,3 all show connection in Windows Network.sharing center, while Lan 4 shows no connectivity. In reality, with the netgear connected I have no internet access at all. Called support, but leared it would cost $159 to get online support since 90 day window was gone which is ridiculous! It would be cheaper to buy another router (not netgear) unless Netgear will replace the router in wararnty. I have no idea how to initiate such a conversation with netgear. Perhaps there is an email source but so far I don't see one. How can I proceed to solve this problem?
