Avira Operations GmbH & Co. KG is a German multinational computer security software company mainly known for its Avira Free Security antivirus software. Although founded in 2006, the Avira antivirus application has been under active development since 1986 through its predecessor company H+BEDV Datentechnik GmbH. You probably need to uninstall it, or disable it from the control panel / options that come with the A/V. Many viruses try to do the same thing you're doing (disabling the service) so that they can turn off the antivirus, so many A/V products mark their services as critical so that that can't happen.
Have not made really good experiences with avira-live-CD, cause it detects often not entirely the malware. And avira-live-CD does not run on some hardware, due to lack of drivers or due to dazuko (which only runs with Kernels of 2.4 or 2.6 ???).
I could stop the daemon and manually remove every file and folder with "avira" in the name, but I might miss config file changes. I've posted to the Avira community, and so far nobody has responded. Can anyone here help?
