Hi All,

You may recall Item 20(d) (Other Business) from the minutes of our February meeting, re: whether OC pays for everyone’s gas bill for hot water. I have attached a screenshot below.

When I spoke to Daniel today, I asked him about this. He said no, he does not believe the OC pays for everyone’s gas bill, i.e. there is a gas meter for every apartment and people are meant to pay for their own gas bills.

He sent me information from Origin below, concerning how the gas hot water is billed.

Important Note: The Origin email below is clearly marked "Not for circulation".  Please do not circulate it outside the Committee. Thank you.

Hi all,

Upon review this is correct. My 'hot water bill' from origin has the following line items:


So if people do not have the line item 'Unmetered Gas (Cooktop)' then they are not paying for it and receiving it for free at no detriment to themselves or the OC.

I think this is a non-issue and can be closed at next committee meeting.

Welcome to Origin Hot Water. 
 
As you may be aware Origin provides the energy used to heat the hot water at 233 Burke Rd Glen Iris.
       
The hot water is reticulated through the building to the apartments from a central hot water system.  Each apartment has a dedicated hot water meter and is individually charged for their hot water usage.  The gas cooktop is not metered and is charged at a cents per day rate regardless of how much is consumed and is included on the hot water account. 
 
An account will need to be set up for the hot water consumption for each of the hot water meters. 
 
I have attached a few forms below, lift/common area notice and a welcome letter that you might find useful to use in your welcome packs.
 
 
I have provided a few options below for the account holder to contact Origin to open an account.
 
  • To open an account online www.originenergy.com.au/bhwopenonline
  • Moving In Form – This form is an interactive PDF which can be completed & emailed to the address on the form.  It can also be printed out & completed manually
  • Contact the call centre on 1800 684 993
 
To close an account
 
  • Moving Out Form – This form is an interactive PDF which can be completed & emailed to the address on the form.  It can also be printed out & completed manually
  • To close an account online www.originenergy.com.au/bhwcloseonline
  • Contact the call centre on 1800 684 993
 
Once the site is loaded we will email you a POD listing that will assist the account holder when making application however, the address will suffice if the customer does not have the pod number.
