For the past few months, I've been unable to backup successfully. Not sure where to turn for troubleshooting help.

The error is a permissions error:

PermissionError: [Errno 13] Permission denied: b'/path-to-backup/backup/bupindex-[id]/pending' -> b'/path-to-backup/backup/bupindex'

The backup location is a local SMB server, and I am using the kup frontend (although bup on the command line gives the same error). I've rechecked the permissions and all seems to be fine.

I did create a new share and attempted a fresh backup with the same permission error.

Any suggestions / ideas?

What command: index, save, or something else? Also what version, and
was that the only related output?

And I vaguely recall some other issues (maybe similar?) with cifs.
Might want to search the list.

In any case, happy to try to track it down and fix it if we can.
