We regret to inform you that Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park Work Day scheduled for Friday, January 19 has been canceled due to weather. The next opportunity to join us in making a positive impact in the community will be on Friday, February 16 from 2:30pm to 5:30pm. However, we have an exciting event to look forward to before that – a free fruit tree pruning workshop on February 10 from 11 am to 2 pm. Local ethnobotanist Marc Williams and Bountiful Cities staff member Kelly Applegate will guide participants in pruning fruit trees in the urban food forest at the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park in the East End Valley Street Neighborhood. The workshop will include a tour and history of the park, as well as hands-on demonstrations of pruning techniques. NC Extension Master Gardeners will be present with soil test kits, publications on growing and maintaining fruit trees, and examples of pruning tools. Bring gloves, water, and yourself, as snacks will be provided, and additional tools are always welcome. For any inquiries, reach out to Kelly at ke...@bountifulcities.org. We appreciate your understanding of the cancellation and hope to see you at the upcoming events for a green start to the new year!
