๐ŸŒฟ Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park Work Day ๐ŸŒฟ
๐Ÿ“… Friday, May 22, 2026
๐Ÿ• 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM
๐Ÿ“ 30 George Washington Carver Avenue, Asheville

Join us for our monthly Community Workday at the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park! This is a welcoming, hands-on opportunity to help care for the park. Parking is available in the Stephens-Lee Recreation Center lot.

Workdays are led by Kelly Applegate of Bountiful Cities. Tools, gloves, water, and snacks are provided, and participants are also welcome to bring their own tools, gloves, and water if preferred. Activities may include mulching, pruning, trash pickup, invasive plant removal, seasonal planting, and occasional park tours. No experience is neededโ€”just bring weather-appropriate clothes and a willingness to dig in.

Late May in Asheville brings the first stirrings of the edible season. Depending on conditions, mulberries and early raspberries may begin to appear, with blueberries starting to follow as summer edges in.

After May, the schedule shifts into summer hours. The next workday will be Thursday, June 26, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, when we move to earlier morning sessions to beat the heat. In July and August, we return to our regular third-Friday schedule, continuing with morning workdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the third Friday of each month.
