You're invited to join our community workday at the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park. The next workday is on Friday, January 17, 2025. This event occurs every 3rd Friday of the month from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm, weather permitting, located at 30 George Washington Carver Avenue, Asheville. Parking is available at the Stephens-Lee Recreation Center parking lot, and the knowledgeable Kelly Applegate from Bountiful Cities will be guiding the event.
We will provide all tools necessary for the work, hand sanitizer, water, and snacks! Feel free to bring any tools and gloves you think would be helpful, the more the merrier! We have some gloves if you do not have any as well. Masks are optional.
Engage in a variety of activities such as mulching, light tree and shrub pruning, trash pickup, invasive clearing, and seasonal planting (as available). Hands-on demonstrations of each technique and a guided tour of the park will be included. Join us in supporting Asheville's inaugural edible forest ecosystem and be a part of this remarkable community effort.
These community workdays are proudly presented in collaboration with the City of Asheville Sustainability Department.
In case of any last-minute changes, the Dr. George Washington Carver Edible Park Facebook Page will be updated, so make sure to check before you head out.
We eagerly anticipate your participation in the community workday—a day filled with community, sustainability, and enjoyment!
