Hey everyone, first I want to say, I'm sorry napb that asking for help on this forum is probably not what you want. I'm asking here because well I have a weird problem and I'm hoping a curator here can help me out.
Anyway
this is a link to my quiz (still unreleased) and here's my dilemma:
Basically the quiz is played out like the game Mastermind. There are a few Mastermind quizzes out there but they're all against the clock, while I made one that is based having a fixed number of guesses. When someone guesses incorrectly, a code will pop up that basically tells you how close you are to getting it right.
There are 12 guesses, so I set up wrong answers for each code for each guess (everything that sets off 1 black circle is put into 1 answer. And then I made one that corresponds to each guess number, so basically there are 12 replicates of the wrong answer).
The problem is when you make your first guess, you'll get a code (let's say one black and one white). Now for all subsequent guesses, the only wrong answer that will work is the one that has the same code as the first wrong answer guessed. So if on the first guess I got one black and one white, then the only wrong answer that will activate for all subsequent guesses are the ones that set off the one black and one white code. This problem makes the game pretty much unplayable. If my explanation is hard to understand, try playing the game yourself. (Without giving away the answer to the quiz, YRRY and RYYR both give one black and one white. Or you can tinker around with other patterns)
Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there a way around this?
I found one solution, and that's to force answer in order. It works pretty nicely but it takes away the nice feature of having every answer pop up when the correct answer is guessed. So I'm hoping for something else.
It's just a really odd problem because the only wrong answer that works is dependent on the first guess.
