So my original quiz idea was to have countries spelled out with elements.  I found that was taken so I thought about putting a spin on it so here it is:

How about if it is made as a clickable alphabet soup puzzle.  (For those of you unfamiliar with the "alphabet soup" concept here is the original by citkeane Alphabet Soup)  To do this the country will be in the hint box and the amount of letters in the extra box.  For the answers, however, the player has to pick the element that fits next.
How I hope it would appear is:
Iran
_ _ _ _
They would have to pick Iodine first and when they do this is what would appear:
Iran
I _ _ _
Next, they would have to pick Radium (because there is no single R symbol):
Iran
I R a _
And finally they would pick Nitrogen, moving them onto the next country that needs to be spelled.

If you guys could tell me what you think that would be great!
Thanks,

I think that's a very fun idea. I'm definitely all for that.

Nice idea, would have to make sure enough countries could be done without reusing (or at least overusing) the same elements. So pairing the elements with the right countries would be something to consider.

For instance if Nauru were in the quiz it could be either: Nitrogen (N), Gold (Au), Ruthenium (Ru) OR Sodium (Na), Uranium (U), Ruthenium (Ru) depending on what other countries/elements are in the quiz.

Here is what I have for countries I could use:

PaKISTaN- Proactinium, Potassium, Iodine, Sulfer, Tantalum, Nitrogen

FInLaNd- Fluorine, Indium, Lanthanum, Neodymium

ArGeNTiNa- Argon, Germanium, Nitrogen, Titanium, Sodium

PAlAu- Phosphorus, Aluminum, Gold

UNiTeD sTaTeS OF AmErICa- Uranium, Nickel, Tellurium, Darmstadtium, Tantalum, Tellurium, Sulfer, Oxygen, Fluorine, Americium, Erbium, Iodine, Calcium.

Wow that's a lot for 5 countries, but do you guys think 5 is enough or should I add more? See any problems? Do you like these choices? Any good countries I missed? All feedback is welcomed.

I would say that that is as many countries as we would need for the quiz unless you guys want to make it a larger quiz.  I think that 6-7 countries is enough so if I have the go from NAPB, then I would love to start putting this together.

@teddy109711:

I want to make sure you are clear about my post in the thread:   Starting a "Game In Progress" / "Quiz Teams" / Scrapping quizzes

You can start construction whenever you want!

The only step where my involvement is required, is for a final "look over" just prior to a quiz contribution.  At that point, if I have any concerns, I'll point them out to the quiz Owner, who can address them, or discuss them further in the Thread for the Quiz.

  • Oh, one other note:  I do not have the ability to "edit" Thread Headers, so in the future, try to title the thread for a New Quiz with a preliminary name for your quiz (or at least more clearly define the topic).  "My Quiz Idea" won't help players find (or remember) this thread -- if they want to help work on the quiz about "Countries Spelled With Elements".

Good call Napb, I think I'll name it Elemental Countries or maybe Elementary Countries. Thanks for the info, but I've never been the one to do something without approval. From no on any threads I make I'll take you advice; thanks Napb.

IMPORTANT!!!
ANYONE WANTING TO BE A PART OF THIS "ELEMENTARY COUNTRIES QUIZ" SHOULD CHECK OUT WHAT I HAVE ALREADY, AND ADD ANY COUNTRIES IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT I DID NOT MAKE ANY MISTAKES.
Thanks

@teddy109711 -

Couple of thoughts:

1) I think you should start a new thread for this quiz, titled "Elementary Countries QUIZ", and re-post your message below. ( You've got to have a thread for this discussion which is clearly labeled so players know what it is about, and how to quickly find it)

2) One issue I noticed in the quiz hints, is that the Capital Letter "I" (as in Iodine) looks the same as a lower case letter "l" (as in "Aluminum"), so I think you'll have to remove any clue-sets using the lower case "l".
