Hey everybody. You may have read my post on making an acrostic puzzle in the 'New QUIZ Ideas' page. If you haven't read it yet, I would heavily suggest you to do so before reading the rest of this post, or you probably won't understand it. Thank you!

Okay, so I tried to start off making the acrostic puzzle, but it was WAY to hard to make. I couldn't even create one themed game, let alone 4. So I thought that maybe we could just do words without a theme, just give clues to them.

So, I thought we could collaborate by giving a few words each, subtracting the letters from the message as we go. You probably want to know the message, right? Well, here it is:

I wrote a novel about a fellow who had a small garden. It didn't have much of a plot.

Pretty funny, eh?

Anyway, here are my two words

MANDELA - South African liberator
FLOWER - One that rises from bed?

Which leaves:

iwotanovelaboutaelwhohadasmallgaritdidnthveuchofpot

So, come up with a word or two, post it/them along with a clue for it/each one, & below that, put the string of letters left.

Happy Acrosticizing!

VENUS - Second planet from sun
GAVEL - a judge's hammer

iwotaoabotaelwhohadasmallritdidtheuchofpot

I think the strategy we should look for is getting rid of the rarest letters first, so I used two words with the letter V.

@rer2121:

Two things:

1)   I recommend that while you wait for clue suggestions, you make sure that you can actually create the quiz.

I'm guessing you played around with a game-in-progress in your own personal Sporcle account?

It's fine to do that in the BunchofCurators account instead (or as well), and experiment with what you want to do.

You can give the quiz a "working title" for that purpose.  When you (and/or your "team for this quiz") decide on the quiz title it can be changed.

And, if you ever start building a quiz, and decide to scrap it, then the thing to do would be to "undo" the quiz (delete the data, undo the styles and formats, etc.) and re-label it "AVAILABLE".  Then that "unused quiz in progress" can be recycled.   I'll make a separate post about this.

2)  OK, Here's my word for your quiz:

LIEU - A word you can use in "stead" of "stead"

It seems as though we've made a little mistake. Skuban forgot to take out the 's' he used in Venus, & teddy109711 used it in Somalia. So we must delete Somalia & blowhard. Here's what we now have left:

wotaoabotalwhohadamalritdidthechofpot

@rer2121:

Why can't you still keep citkeane's "Blowhard"?

Then, put a "freeze" on the quiz until teddy109711 comes up with a new word?
  • If you agree to this, in your response, make it clear that "Blowhard"  IS in, and re-post the resulting available letter string for teddy109711
  • If you DON'T want to keep "Blowhard" then just say so, and just re-post the string you want to pick up with otherwise; AND whether you still want to wait for teddy109711's alternative.

It's your call, and, of course I'm totally cool with however you wish to proceed  :)

So I'm gonna go with blowhard is a word and make a new one if that's okay with you rer2121:

wotaoaothaamalitdidthechofpot

Is what I'm going to make my word from (I took out blowhard)

MALAWI- Add a word for a sigh into Mali.

I'm not sure about that clue working well, so if you need/want to change it feel free. I didn't just want to say "African Country".

I'll agree to keeping blowhard, so the current letter string is:

wotaoaothaamalitdidthechofpot

OATH - A promise in a court of law

that only leaves odiof, so I'm not sure if anything else can be done

I guess you could do FIDO - A coin containing a minting error and O - The 15th letter in the alphabet, which would use up all of the letters

It seems as though we've made a little mistake again. We have an 'n' left over, & an 'e' was used in Cryptus's 'thatched,' that we didn't have, even though it was in the letter string. If it is OK with mcomisky to use the letter 'O', the current letter string is:

thatchdno

That's fine with me! I was just using it because they were the last few letters and nothing else could be done

We could finish with

CHANT - Gregorian, e.g.
DOTH - "The lady _____ protest too much, methinks"

Siefker's suggestion seems to worth. siefker what's your Sporcle account name, just curious as nothing shows up when I search siefker on Sporcle?

I'm still interested to know how you're going to format this quiz.
