Hello fellow BoC members.

A Letter Pair quiz (like this or this) would be perfect for this Bunch of Curators to collaborate on.

- It's fun.
- It's fairly easy.
- It's perfect for collaborating.

We will have to decide on what the letter pair actually is. Some good ones I've found are MF, SP, and SA. This will be pretty simple though. Whoever wants to participate can post hints and answers on this thread, and when we get a bunch of suggestions, we stick 'em on a quiz.

So... yeah.

I like this, I was actually just thinking of something like this, but the letters I was think were AP. You know as in Advanced Placement, Adrian Peterson and it seems like so many more when you think about.

Maybe as a twist, just a thought, we have three columns with each kinda related. For example, first column would be say AB, second column would be BC, and finally CA for the third column. I don't think its ever been done and I think it'd be cool.

2007 Best Musical Tony winner: Spring Awakening
(but that's obscure, so I don't expect that to make the cut, and I won't feel bad when it doesn't)

Thanks BZ,

I do have one little request, that you see if you can somehow distinguish this quiz from all of the other Letter Pair quizzes out there.

Something that even just a little "sets it apart" and makes it representative of BofC. Perhaps some sort of theme, or variation to make it more unique.

I DO like the idea of creating a simple-ish quiz, but I think that there is an expectation that when we put out a quiz, it reflects the need for (or presence of) collaboration, or at least a wee-advanced bit of creativity

Does that make sense?

Thanks
P.S. Teddy might be on track there, as he is definitely "thinking outside the box" of the usual things that have been done.

If we go with teddy's, my new answer is:

1999 Best Picture winner: American Beauty

I, too, like teddy's idea for the Letter Pair Chain. The first concern is probably 'Is it doable?'. Is there one for YZ, WX, PQ etc?

Maybe I hadn't made myself clear, I didn't mean they have to be letters next to each other, they could be FP PT and TF. I just wanted to make myself clear that it was merely an example.

Oh, okay. Yeah that's probably doable. I saw that MG's suggestion was AB and your post and put 2 and 2 together to get 5. Carry on. :)

Clues would have to be quite brief for a three-column quiz.

Something to further tie the letters (whichever are decided on) together would be nice too, if the quiz were to go that route.

"A" "B"unch of "C"urators' Letter Quiz

Regardless, before people get carried away with suggestions, I really do want to allow BanjoZebra to either guide the thematizing of the quiz, or endorse whatever is discussed along the way.

Thanks

I agree with Master Pause that we should always sprinkle in a little creativity into our quizzes, and I love teddy's idea.

I think napb's title suggestion may be just a little too extravagant, but that's just me. Maybe a more subtle and straightforward title could be "Letter Pair: ABC Loop".

Ha! That wasn't really my suggestion, but more of an example of "tying the letters together" :)

Yours is much better, BZ!

Ah, whatever. Well,

For AB, there's stuff like:
- Alexander (Graham) Bell
- alcoholic beverage
- American Beauty (as mentioned previously)

And for BC (which actually exists as a quiz itself):
- British Columbia
- blue cheese
- Bill Clinton

And, finally, for CA:
- Christina Aguilera
- car alarm
- Cast Away

The fact that Letter Pair: BC is a separate quiz might be a slight problem for originality and such.

Maybe I should have mentioned I already did a Letter Pair for AB a few month back. So, we might have to go with a different set of letters if it is decided that the AB, BA, CA-style format is the way to go.

If the discussion of what particular letters to use is still open what about using a six-letter word split into three pairs? It would provide somewhat of a theme especially is some of the answers where related to the word. Maybe even something close to a "word" like WA SH DC for Wash. D.C.

Only problem with that is wash DC is just three letter pairs in one game. Maybe if there is one with the same repeated 3 letters.

Was only using Wash DC as an example/potential alternative, if a word format was utilized there might be a word or place name etc. that would be suitable. I'm just "spitballing" an idea.

I liked the AB-BC-CA idea until I found out about its non-originality. We could do something like SP-OR-CL, but then we end up with a stray E.

KY-RG-YZ-ST-AN? ;)

BanjoZebra, we don't have to use AB BC CB. I don't really know what  you mean by its lack originality.
