Hey guys,

So, since NAPB was upgraded to editor nothing has been going on here.  Even before that there wasn't much activity.  If NAPB doesn't want to do this anymore, maybe a more experienced user than me could take over for him. Or, this can kinda just shut down and not make quizzes and templates anymore.  My vote is to keep it going because we were on great pace for making awesome quizzes.

Thanks,
Dan Hodgson (teddy109768)

If we want to, I guess we could really just come up with new ideas and start working on them.

I was thinking we could do a Letter Pair quiz.

Dan,

I appreciate your enthusiasm, but your post above was strangely posted publicly without any consultation with me….

You have my e-mail address, and you could have asked me what's up. Why would you not first contact me to see what’s going on, or where I stand?

So I find that I need to now respond publicly, whereas I believe it would have been more appropriate to chat via e-mail in the first place.  So here goes.

The group has been dormant since mid-December. It has nothing to do with my new editorship. Why haven't you been active? Why haven't others?

And, I still am an active curator. I am the curator for Word Play. (And, just for kicks, for "April Fools" as well).

I sent out an e-mail to every member of this group on January 15, including you, inviting a return to participation and suggesting we reinvigorate it.

I fervently sought support in this forum for your Elementary Countries quiz to get attention and feedback.   Why haven't you been active in promoting its completion?

Why would you publicly ask “if NAPB does not want to do this anymore….”?   I never said or hinted at that, and it is as far as possibly could be from the truth.

I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this group. I’ve checked for posts DAILY since its inception, and have immediately responded to, and supported all activity. That includes instances where ideas were not feasible -- to try and help steer people to better projects where their chances of success were greater.

And I'm ACTIVELY involved with the administration in pursuing the possibility of BunchofCurators’  Template program becoming a tool that is Sporcle-wide.

Imagine if all of those inquiries in Sporcle U. could be answered by having newbie quiz-makers be able to physically SEE the Options, Data, and Style pages of sample quizzes…..

…. TODAY I was discussing this with administrators!

Anyways, although I’m glad you seem to want to participate, please do not jump to conclusions about other people.

If you wish to discuss this any further, please e-mail me directly.

Thanks,

Gordy / napb

I don't think there is any need for us to be impatient. There are already some ideas on this board, as has been mentioned, that need completing and as long as the members regularly check the board for updates, progress will come. The United Editors account on which this is based has contributed/published from what I can tell a total of 9 quizzes in almost 3 years. Not exactly a record setting pace. That might be because they're concerned with quality over quantity.

An idea that I do have but am hesistant to take the lead on because of my own impatience with the form/lack of experience making them is a Jumbo Word Ladder of some sort/theme. It's a style of quiz that everyone can contribute to and have a hand in shaping (From deciding a theme to word selection to clue phrasing) and therefore might provoke more involvement in the board. Just a thought.

I'd like to chime in with more ideas but, personally I'm a little dry right now myself. I've mainly just been doing Missing Word quizzes and working on sequels or quizzes that I've had sitting in development.

Viva la Revolución! Just kidding, I don't think we need to stage a coup and cut off napb's head quite yet.

I don't think it is napb's style to just abandon a project, especially one he single-handedly brought about and encouraged. So until I get an email saying, "Hey guys, I'm not going to be involved with the BunchOfCurators group anymore," I shall look to napb as my leader and follow him. :]

Zalkon - Cool idea. If this does happen, then I think we should bring in a celeb editor to rewrite any clues he finds necessary, as we aren't all ladder experts (myself especially). I know I'm thinking way ahead here, but I just don't want anyone to be offended when it comes down to changing something they contributed.

Thanks all, I'm still excited to be working in conjunction with others. It is the most satisfying thing that I do in Sporcle. By far.

I have a favor to ask of everyone.

Regardless of your "level of expertise", I'd really like to focus on the quiz which teddy109711 initiated in a separate thread, Elementary Countries.

I've repeatedly stated that personally, I'm not an expert in either of those areas, but I realize that you don't "have to be" one to at least look it over.

If that quiz DOES seem like it is viable, then we can collaborate on getting it ready to contribute....

What say ye all?

(And then AFTERWARDS, perhaps "ease back into other quizzes" -- BanjoZebra's thought of doing a Letter Pair might be a "simpler and fun" way to get
back in the groove of things
before we tackle a word ladder).

Thanks
