Dear BUNAN Members from the Friends of Niger (FON):

Sannunku dukanku: Kuna lahiya? Ina fata wannan k’arshen shekara ya same ku lahiya kalau duka da iyali da abokai.

I have now been working with the FON for going on four years and I am pleased to say that we are making a great deal of progress in our work in Niger. We have carried out a fundraising campaign recently in order to enable us to have a greater impact. In agriculture and nutrition, we are now working with Moustapha Harou, a community health officer in the town of Sakawa in the Karnaka Region of Maradi district. As a health officer, his concern for issues of malnutrition among nursing mothers, new mothers, and children from 0 to 5, let him to propose the development of moringa plantations that are planted at the village level, and may be combined with a vegetable garden in a polyculture situation. The FON has recently funded their third one of these gardens and there are another 30 or more villages lined up in need of this kind of support for food and nutrition supply for the population. You can read about this project in the attached document which is the annual letter of appeal from the FON.

On this the next to the last day of the year, it would be wonderful if each of you could also contribute something to this most worthwhile project. For around $2,000 we are able to plant 500 moringa plants and also vegetables near a well site in these villages of the Maradi area that are in such need of this most timely project.
