I was looking for some help in choosing ammo for my AW93.   I was using CCI SV ammo but I am having problems with it of late.  It seems to me that the chamber is tight and often times the ammo won't fully load.  I'm getting a lot of misfires since the round is not chambered properly.

I have also used the Olin Ball Ammo which was brought from Camp Perry by another shooter.  That ammo feeds well but doesn't seem to group as well with the gun.

Any ammo recommendations for AW93?  Thanks.

Sunil

It's no good, sell it. Better yet I'll trade you for an old Ruger MkII
that will feed anything.... (Grin)

Hi Sunil, On a serious note, I'd try a box or two of different ammo to
get a feel for what it likes. Sort of surprised it doesn't like the CCI
SV. Although some recent lots of the CCI was extra waxy. Big and
didn't want to chamber easily. I've heard leaving the ammo, nose down
in the back window of your car on a hot day has been known to cure it.
Not sure I'd recommend it.

I'm assuming you have used a .25cal brush to remove any accumulated goo
in the front of the chamber.

I'm lucky in that my marvel like the cheap CMP Aguila (I just bought
another case)

One of our league shooters has an AW-93, I think he uses some kind of
RWS ammo.

As a new Aw93 owner i know exactly where your coming from, the problem is most american 22 rimfire that ive tried have tolerances that run on the big size compared with most  made overseas. After much research, ive found there is 3 options, first is to shoot non usa made ammo, all ive tried works fine from the cheap eley sport basically its aguila and made in Mexico, SK pistol match, standard plus, wolf match or match extra and most eley,&  lapua. I have settled on SK pistol match (not pistol match special) the second option is to simply measure your bullets, use a digital caliper set on MM and measure the driving band just above the case mouth, my gun will shoot any that read 5.7mm and less, 5.71mm will slide in the chamber but takes a light push to seat, 5.72 will not chamber completely and will cause a alibi. I have a few cases of federal 711b and it is very accurate, but out of every 50 rd box i will have 5-15 that are above the 5.7mm size, if i sort them by measuring, then i have no problems, but it takes  about 20 minutes to sort thru several boxes to get a 100 round match pak ready. The 3rd option is to have the bore lightly reamed, and pray it still remains accurate. Not a option im willing to do. My choice is to pony up the bucks and shoot the better ammo or measure my federal. Your barrel could be different, take some rounds and drop them in your barrel, find the ones that just fit and measure, then sort out all that are bigger is the cheapest solution. Hope this helps, David

My AW-93's have been through cases of SK / Wolf without a problem. Eley also work well. I occasionally shoot other brands in practice (Aguilla, CCI, Fed and Rem). the FWB prefer softer Euro ammo. I think I recall a few chambering problems with CCI and/or Fed when the chamber is dirty, but I can shoot 500+ rds of SK with no problems.

It is a precision Euro gun which was designed for precision Euro ammo. Low end SK and Eley ammo is about the same price as CCI SV and will probably eliminate all your problems.
