Looking for some 32 S&W reloading advice, I have 0.314" Lapaua 83 gr HBWC's and need to load with N-310, what are the go to loads for short and long lines?

I am running an older Pardini HP.

Doug,

Recently I asked for advice on ,32 load data in general. The responses I received were great. Your inquiry is specific. The Vihtavouri webpage has a recommendation for the Lapua 83 grain bullet and N310 powder as 1.7 grains as a start yielding a velocity of 807 FPS. The advice I received ranged from what individuals were using to what is necessary to achieve optimal accuracy. The consensus is that various aspects must be considered for optimal accuracy that range from the reload process including brass selection and sizing in conjunction with primer and bullet seating.

I am shooting the .32 now and have had good success so far at a cost (time and money) that has far outweighed the reward. Persons that have traveled down the .32 path reportedly set it aside at some point to get better with .45. There is a place for the .32 however you still have to shoot the .45. Or not.

I have a Walther GSP Expert and enjoy shooting the .22 and .32. The .32 is a fun gun as you are probably aware. To achieve accuracy at 50 yards requires a lot more work that may involve a barrel change to get a better twist rate. In all the advice that I received regarding the .32 I can sum up for you as follows:

First. You have to “tweak” the .32 to find out what works best for you. Tweaking may involve a different bullet and powder while giving particular attention to your reload process.

Finally. You still have to shoot the .45 depending on what your objectives are in competition.

All the best,

Reggie Thomas

I found 715 fps +/- to be optimal with the .32 S&W Long.

Just my experience.
