As of 2.2 the main protocol code is now available in its own library, librtmp. This library is licensed under LGPL so it may be used freely in otherapplications. As of 2.3 the library may also be built as a shared library, not just a static library
Some manpages have been added for 2.2. You can read thertmpdump manpage and thertmpgw manpage online as well.
An overview of the library is also available in thelibrtmp manpage.
As of 2.1 there are two additional server programs, rtmpsrv andrtmpsuck.
rtmpsuck is a transparent proxy; it intercepts connections from a clientand then makes an outbound connection to the real server. After allhandshaking is complete and encryption keys with both sides arenegotiated, it records the cleartext stream data into files whilerelaying the data from the server to the client.

Nir Sofer has written a small utility called RTMPDumpHelper that helps you to easily download RTMP video/audio streams by combing it with another open source utility and proxy server called RTMPDump toolkit. By running RTMPDumpHelper, you can simply open a Web page containing a RTMP video stream in your favorite Web browser, and while you are watching the video, it'll be automatically saved to your disk as a .flv or .mp4 file.
That said, such problems become easier to deal with if you upgrade from free to paid software. Although screen-capturing with Audials, a $25 program, is still a system-intensive task that leaves you with gigantic files, paying for the software unlocks a lot of settings and presets. With most streams in my tests, the procedure was as easy as entering a URL and then letting the program open a new tab to begin recording. Getting the file size to reasonable levels (less than 1GB for an hour-long program) took very little tweaking.
You can save some time and hassle by automating your streaming media recording completely. PlayLater is a new service that lets you queue up your accessible streaming media and records it for you in the background. It delivers an MP4 file after the stream ends, without interrupting your other computing tasks.
In the last few weeks, I added support for recovering passwords from external hard drive contains the most recent versions of Windows (Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 7) for some of the NirSoft Password-Recovery tools, including IE PassView, ChromePass, Network Password Recovery, and WirelessKeyView.
Until now there was only support for reading external drive passwords of Windows XP or Windows Vista and I had to do a very intensive reverse engineering in order to upgrade my DPAPI decryption code to work with Windows 7 and newer systems.
In addition to the upgrade of existing tools, there are also a few new utilities in development process that are specifically designed to extract passwords from external hard drive.
You also have to type the logon password of this user profile, because the logon password is needed to decrypt the passwords.
Assuming that you type the correct user profile path and logon password, IE PassView will decrypt the passwords stored by IE in the date that the shadow copy was created.
You can also use the same technique with the other tools that have external drive support (ChromePass, Network Password Recovery, WirelessKeyView, Dialpass )
Many a times you had wished to watch live stream later again, possibly to come up with a blog post or to recollect the information you might have missed. Now the only option is to view the event again at their official channel, which ultimately means that you spend your bandwidth again, or start using RTMP Dump Helper, which is a simple software which does this job for you in the background i.e. It keeps saving the live stream in the background while you are watching it.
First off thank you for providing me with this information. Many people , including myself, are probably interested in how big the file can get while using this software. For instance say I used this program to save a 1 hour stream to my computer. Approximately how big would the file be?
It turns out I didn't need any kind of add-on or downloader at all! I can just record the video straight off of the screen with this nifty screen recording software [ -o-matic.com/]. It will probably help to record with each volume turned as high as you can as it looks like it records the volume of the video as you record it. I recorded it with the volume down at the moment so I'll have to try it later.
Vimeo is a friendly video sharing site that often lets you download its content without any trouble. Right below the video, you'll often find a download button and the option to download your video of choice in multiple formats. Vimeo leaves the choice of whether or not the download button is available to content creators, which is pretty cool. It's a little less cool when content creators don't allow downloads, but that's up to them. If you just want to watch their video offline, Adapter can pull it down for you, too.
Hulu makes its money off of advertisements, so downloading its content without watching those ads is a little questionable. If you're just finishing up a TV show or a movie on a train ride home or while you're on an airplane, however, you have a somewhat more justifiable reason to take the content offline. Awhile back we recommended Hulu Video Downloader for the job, but people have had mixed success and it hasn't been updated since late 2009. More recently, How-to Geek posted a Hulu downloading process. Like Hulu Video Downloader, this process is Windows-only. All you have to do is download RTMPDumpHelper and RTMP Dump Toolkit and extract both zips to your desktop. Take the files from both extracted zips and put them in a single folder. From there, run RTMPDumper and open your web browser. It'll "attach" to your browser so that when you visit Hulu, it shoulder intercept the video stream (or, technically, the RTMPSuck tool will do this). You'll have to wait for the video to finish before it's on your hard drive, but just like with YouTube you can mute the computer and do something else while the process completes.
