ITS HERE!!! The fun month of exploring color is finally here! I dreamt this challenge up back in December as I was winding down my 7 weeks of #thehandmadehustle and thinking about what else I could contribute to the sewing community. I have a background in art, and also in teaching art, so I figured why not teach everyone about COLOR?

So here is the layout of the month. I would love for you to CHALLENGE yourself and your wardrobe by trying out some of these fun color schemes and experimenting with HAPPY COLOR!! It will be fun, I promise!!!

I am also posting a new color scheme challenge every couple days of the week to help guide and stretch your use of that color. You will find loads of inspiration and videos of me teaching about these in my Instagram stories and posts.

On the first of the month you'll receive new downloadable custom-designed pages that will get you excited for the upcoming holidays and inspire your creativity. Perfect for grabbing your yoga pants, throwing your hair up, and just unwinding with colors and fun patterns.

To access your Color Happy monthly digital coloring page downloads, go to your account page and click on "Color Happy downloads". For answers about Color Happy, go to my Color Happy FAQ blog post. To learn how to unzip Color Happy files on your iPad, check out my YouTube video.

Even mother nature, as most poets will recognize, dims her colors when she feels bad. A happy sunny day filled with leafy greens, cantaloupe skies and blue waters will quickly turn gray and gloomy when it storms. As do we.

There are a million other colors left. Which one of them is your happy color? What is the first color that comes to mind when you hear the words happy, carefree, peaceful or inspired? Does it possibly remind you of something, someone or some place? Can you think of any connection as to why your happy color is your happy color?

Seems you and Mark have something in common. His was cobalt blue as well! ? It really is a nice color. Deep and soothing almost. I love turquoise too. So many beautiful shades of blue. Thinking about it, yellow may have some competition. ?

I have the app called happy color. it would not let me play it until I updated it. so I updated my phone and the app and it has a glitch in the app now. It will let me get into it and start to color but then it will glitch and not tell let my continue what I was doing in the app. Then when I open the app back open it will do the something. This did not happen until I undated the app.

This second color wheel shows more tertiary colors (the colors in between the primary and secondary colors, such as blue-green and red-violet) and light and dark versions of some of the colors as well.

Monochromatic is when you have one color. You can still have a monochrome color scheme when you pair it with the tints (lighter versions) and shades (darker versions) of that color as well. The prints above are great examples of this color scheme! When you are designing a print, challenge yourself to see if you can make something interesting with a limited monochrome palette like designers did in the Classic Blue Monochrome Design Challenge. And if you are a sewist, quilter or crafter looking for monochromatic prints, just put monochromatic in the search bar and then filter the color on the left side of your page. I found lots of great designs when searching for yellow monochromatic on Spoonflower.

Red, orange and yellow are all warm colors and are generally thought to evoke feelings of happiness, optimism, energy and passion. Yellow-y sunshine might lift your mood, while red roses might get you in the mood.

Happy colors are usually thought to be bright, warm shades, like yellow, orange, pink and red, or pastels, like peach, light pink and lilac. The brighter and lighter the color, the happier and more optimistic it can make you feel. Combining lots of colors together can feel joyful and exuberant, like the Holi festival, or maybe a little chaotic and overwhelming, like an overcrowded city street.

Want to chill out? Turn to cool colors, like blue and green, cool-toned pastels like baby blue, lilac and mint, and neutral tones, like white and gray. Pared-back designs that use fewer colors tend to be more calming.

Gray can be seen as a mature, responsible or neutral color, which is why you might feel super-professional and reliable wearing a gray suit to work instead of bright orange. Gray is sometimes seen as a lighter, less formal alternative to black. On the other hand, it can also be seen as indecisive, conventional and (alas) boring.

Funny but for psychology class I actually had to do a research paper on breeding and how color affects breeding and fish. In short, The mails with the brightest and more intricate color pattern attracted more females then other fish with less bright colors. And actually became a quite interesting Research project. Secondly, size had a lot to do with it as well, which holds true in birds breeding as well.

What color(s)would be calming for a child with ADHA,Posttraumatic stress, bipolar or schizophrenia? I have a few friends w kids who have these different conditions and would like to try to help them. Thanks for any contributions. Ann

My favorite color is aquamarine. It is a combo nation of blue and green. I like this color best for many reasons but I guess I was bored of Purple. Blue and green I believe are defined as peaceful and in harmony even though it brings sadness.

Loved the article! It was informative and quite interesting. Coming from a background in psychology. I knew colors can affect ones mood. The colors you wear can affect you and those who look at you. Similarly, scent can also play a role in mood, behavior, and self- presentation. Scent is also cloaely associated to color. For example, look how perfume is marketed. Spice fragrances are linked to warm colors so the bottle and the color of fragrances may be yellow, red, and orange. It is just an overall interesting topic. Thanks for sharing

i totally disagree with the colors listed in this article. There are more distinct colors like Khaki green, light lilac, bluish pink, ice blue, lemon yellow, soft black and even caramel! An effortlessly bad write up i must say!

However, color psychology can be influenced by a range of factors, including individual characteristics and cultural influences. Learn more about some of the emotions and moods that the color yellow creates.

Gameplay is very simple. You can apply all kinds of colors to the drawings but only where indicated by the numbers. Each color has a number, and your job is to find where that number appears in the drawing and color it in. The bigger the drawing, the harder it is to find the numbers, so the areas will turn a light gray to help you find them. If you can't find a number, look for the dark point.

All the drawings in Happy Color are designed to be as colorful as possible, so you're sure to have fun coloring them in. The app also has tons to choose from, each with its own difficulty, so you can decide what's best based on your abilities. On the other hand, you can restart a drawing from scratch, switch to a new drawing, or finish coloring a drawing whenever you want. Have fun relaxing with all kinds of colorful images thanks to this app.

The biggest key in selecting the spray solution that is right for you is TIMING -- aka the time frame that you'll be wearing the solution the day of your spray. If you're unable to shower at the 2-4 hour mark, you definitely do not want to get the Rapid. Leaving a solution on for too long (or the classic on for not long enough) will interfere with the development of the color. The Classic is most common for anyone who will wear it during the day or sleep in it overnight.

Both solutions work with your natural undertones and will develop into a gorgeous golden bronze for you, but in our experience, we can achieve a deeper color from the Classic solution being left on for up to 12 hours.

Our organic Rapid Solution is perfect for all skin types. It is worn on the skin for 2-4 hours and results in a light to medium color for a super natural sun kiss (the longer you wear it, the darker the tan.) Once showered, the solution continues to develop in the skin for 10 hours and you'll be golden for a full week. This is the perfect option for those who prefer to shower the solution off sooner / a quickie last minute tan.

Our organic Solution is perfect for all skin types. It is worn on the skin for 6-12 hours and results in a medium to deep color like you just came from a beach vacation (the longer you wear it, the darker the tan.) Once showered, the tan is fully developed & you'll be golden for a full week. This is a great option for those who prefer to sleep in their tan overnight or plan to wear it all day while they're out n about.
