Update from CCP Stroopwafel 18.October 2023:
Linux users: Uninstalling the game in Steam might cause the entire client to be removed because of proton/wine
So if you value your EVE files and client settings, make a backup.
Can confirm, tried to install the new version 0.4.5, which worked fine with vanilla 8.19 Wine staging, minimum graphics were 60 fps (still did not run under dx12, unlike steam though).
When I closed the launcher and started again I also got the javascript errors and now starting the launcher only causes an icon in the taskbar to appear
That looks just like the launcher files that should end up in /AppData/Local/eve-online/app-0.4.6/ (with 0.4.6 being the launcher version)
My SquirrelTemp folder is empty except for a single Squirrel-Install.log file.
So it looks your launchers never get to the cleaning up part or fail during it.
I have been using it without touching it since the files stopped growing.
After that, when the launcher updater was sent to 0.4.7, the file proliferation started again.
By the time I noticed it, it had increased by over 70GB.
The next time you log in to Conan Exiles via the TestLive client on Steam, you will be greeted by a new launcher window. We encourage you to try it and report any issues you encounter, as well as provide suggestions you may have for further improvements. Your feedback will be of great value for us, before we implement the launcher on the main branch of the game.
Will it be running in the background like steam all the time? I really hope not, my RAM is already filled to the brim if I play the game with nothing else open.
And if it does run in the background, will we get the option to disable / close it without it using resources?
Oh my god, WHY? Service Steam provides everything you need and news and DLC and the community. Why do we need another launcher?
I launch GOG-Galaxy, I poke Conan, he launches Steam, Steam launches this misunderstanding, and it launches the game for me. Excellent!
Please no! Not another gosh dang launcher. Please dont force this hot pile of crud down our throats. We dont need more hassle. Its already annoying enough to get blasted with the dlc page EVERY TIME I BOOT UP. Im all for the dlc, ive purchased all but 1. But please dont do this launcher!
I went to steam and found a steamcmd.zip. following this person directions, it failed so I cleared the folder out. re downloaded the launcher1702. put both in the server file and it worked at least for the steam account. I was able to log in.: smiley: Yet on another account It went to the log in page then the download page and timed out.
Only errors I got was from the store not loading. Server name is green, password us yellow. Admin is red., No mods! The ports are red (Client, Udp and Query, not sure what to change them too. Very Nice program. I am sure there are many that would use this program if they knew about it.

Now that my eyes are rested. I relooked at things. If this is because Everything is on the same machine, then I will have to wait till I can find a mother board for my older system. I thought it would be ok with it just being me logging in as I rebuild things.
If the client and server are on the same machine, and the machine is powerful enough, then you need to make sure that you change the ports to something else, because the client uses the same ports by default.
System Details Win 11, 12th Gen Intel I7-12700f, Nividia Geforce RTX 3060, 32gb mem, 1Tb/ssd / 2tb HHd / 16 Gb storage. I think that is powerful enough. My question is changing the ports to what? what is the range I need to change I need to change the ports too.
Port forwarding does not care about the executable, it just re-route some port on some side (internet) to some other port on the other side (your local network) to a specific network card identified by its IP address or MAC address.
Your Spectrum router has an internal firewall that blocks certain apps and devices from accessing the internet. If you want to allow these apps through the firewall, you have to forward their ports through the router. This wikiHow article...
In order to get Mutli-WAN not obnoxiously reporting different Mutli-WAN IPs every few minutes, I had to add additional policy routing rules to my router to force outbound traffic from my game server to not just route the standard ports (Game Client, Raw UDP, & Source Query Ports) to one particular gateway, but also route traffic heading to 37.18.192.124 on port 443 (HTTPS) and 167.99.196.206 on port 80 (HTTP) along the same gateway rules as the other ports.
Update: We're in the beta and playing, though some players are apparently still re-downloading Fallout 76 after the launcher encountered problems earlier today. Bethesda says it's investigating.
Original story: I've been sitting here today watching the Bethesda launcher's Fallout 76 beta timer run down, knowing it would expire two hours early and wondering why. Everything Bethesda has published stated the PC beta would begin at 4 pm Pacific, but the timer was two hours ahead, and clicking on it showed a 2 pm start. I even helpfully (not that helpfully) tried to point this out to Bethesda on Twitter:
When the timer expired, the launcher told me (eventually) that my copy of Fallout 76 was being unlocked, then displayed a 'Preloaded' button, which I clicked, at which point it tried to download the preload again. Which is weird! It's preloaded, there's no need to re-preload it. I hope. (Update: it is now in fact making me re-download the preload. Sigh!)
I foolishly restarted the launcher, at which point I became unable to log back into my account, receiving an error message and being told to check my username and password. Eventually I got back in, but my game library is currently entirely blank. The forums at Bethesda's site are showing a 504 message as well.

Here is what I have: I currently have DCS World Steam Edition (I could not find that it specified any numerical version (like 2.7 etc) of it anywhere on the Steam site. The only other things I have on Steam for DCS are: F-15C Flaming Cliffs DLC, F-16C Viper, and Mariana Islands Map.
Here is what I want: To run DCS World solely on the standalone version from this point forward with no need to use Steam. From what I gather I can possibly transfer over, or "bind" the 3 modules from Steam to standalone. So first question is:
1) Do I first have to download the DCS World version 2.7 from the DCS World website (the majority of folks seem to think that the open beta 2.7 is the way to go so I would opt for that) -OR- is there some way that the Steam version (which was downloaded already to my PC) can somehow become my standalone version via some of this "binding" process (ie no downloading of the sim from ED rquired)?
2) If I must download 2.7 open beta from DCS World, do I need to create a different DCS World account or can I continue with current one. (ie will anything from my current acct be somehow linked to Steam in any way?)
3) If I bind those 3 modules, are they now updated through Steam or through DCS World whenever updates arrive (mostly for the F-16)? And if they are updated through Steam, but I don't want that, then is my only option to repurchase them through DCS World?
