Dear BSBS members,
I am the current moderator of the BSBS mailing list. It was brought to
my attention that a former BSBS member has been sending self-serving
messages to the BSBS members. Those messages usually have the format
of a BSBS email. However, they are not being sent from our mailing
system. This individual has been banned from our forum and mailing
list. If you are being spammed by him, please block his email
(vlad...@shu-bg.net) using the blocking function of your personal
email account.
Feel free to email me personally if you experience any other problems
with the forum or the mailing list.
Best wishes,
Dora

Ah, Dora!... Why is human nature so perverse, you have been working so hard for many years, and this 'vladimir' appearing from nowhere, wants to un dermine your efforts? So sad! Best wishes! Yordan

Yup!
So have I  done already - this is my real mail message.
But it might be some wrong program that has been using our addresses - not necessarily that ex-member?

Best wishes for a happy year,
GeA

Colleagues,
Interestingly I was spared the spamming, although my email is in the system. If you think that I should investigate this more, could you please forward me some of the messages? Our forum should be protected from automatic crawlers, bots, etc. but glitches happen. We are using a Google product, but I feel personally responsible for our system and your experiences. I would appreciate if you help me detect irregularities. Please alert me of any future inappropriate mailing or posting. Thanks a lot!
Best wishes,
Dora

Dear Dora and Colleagues,
I'm sure that we all appreciate the efforts that Dora has been putting into managing the website and e-mailing useful information to all of us. Personally, I only found the last e-mail objectionable; the earlier e-mails were - if anything - pertinent and had to do with a problem that most of us have found very trying: the fact that editors of conference proceedings do not (always) forward copies of their volumes to contributors. This is something that as a society we should discuss. However, is this possible? For a long time I haven't received any e-mails about meetings of the Exec Board (am I still a member of that, I wonder?) or general meetings, for that matter. The information that comes through is valuable but the Bulgarian Society of British Studies hardly seems to function as an organised body of responsible professionals and - with all due respect to the Presiden and Treasurer - a lot more's involved than the regular payment of membership fees. Please give it some thought.

all best wishes,
Ludmilla Kostova, University of Veliko Turnovo

Maybe it was not real spam but a repeated inquiry about Plovdiv conference book.
As far as I know there might be some windows-live-masked virus, but I have experienced none of it.
Have a best blessed day,
GeA
