Dear linguists among BSBS members,
in December last year (2010) I was recruited as an acquisitions editor in the team working for promoting and making widely known the scientific production of Central and Eastern European linguists through offering platforms for publishing original research. I herein attach some information and quote below the addresses at which you can find further information.
I function as an intermediary between potential authors and editors and reviewers.

Versita welcomes English language book proposals in linguistics from all parts of the world. In cooperation with our renowned partner, de Gruyter

, we can bring your work to global markets and win your book’s target audience’s attention.

Why Publish with Versita ?

Fresh approach. Versita is a young publishing house with fresh approach to book publishing. We focus on core competences. We do ourselves only what we do best. The rest we outsource or we partner with other publishers.

Experience. In book publishing Versita partners with De Gruyter. For more than two-hundred and sixty years the name De Gruyter has been synonymous with high-quality, landmark publications to establish itself as a key international publisher.

Simple procedures. We have made complicated procedures simple. Thanks to that we can offer straightforward management of your publications:

    • swift reviewing process of each book proposal and manuscript (8-10 weeks reviewing time in contrast to up to three years with many publishing houses),
    • swift turn-around time from book manuscript into publication,
    • experienced editorial departments to work with you on all issues regarding the management of the publication process as well as the usage and visibility of your publication.

Technological solutions
. Each accepted book is published on Reference Global

, De Gruyter’s integrated platform for eBooks, eJournals and databases. De Gruyter cooperates with Google – by far one of the most used gateways to content – and many other search engines. Google has free “crawling access” to all content on Reference Global platform what guarantees immediate indexing and searchability of all content. Content hosted on Reference Global is also compliant with search engines and federated search applications specifically used by academic libraries.

Simple usage of your publications. With the help of integrated online content platform Reference Global, we aim to promote usage of your publications in global scholarly communication in various ways:

  • users benefit from enhanced content in comparison to the print version such as additional audio, video, graphics and other data material,
  • table of contents alerts as well as new results for saved searches are provided by e-mail or RSS feed,
  • virtual bookshelf for researchers where they can choose your publication to be stored, thus making it easy for them to work with your title as needed,
  • researchers can also use the recommendation function for fellow researchers and for libraries,
  • users can easily download all relevant bibliographic data to the citation manager in their user account area,
  • an extensive navigation functionality searching across the whole the platform, the subject categories and also within the single book makes content easy to find.

Far-reaching marketing and sales activities
. Each publication is being marketed with the help of well-established marketing toolkit containing subject catalogues, flyers, brochures, adverts and lists in print and in electronic form, specially designed web pages, mailings and e-mailings, regular newsletters on all new publications, in all subject areas, as well as many other means. We attend most key conferences for the single subject areas as well as book fairs, library conferences and trade shows around the world.

Dedicated sales force. Dedicated sales team consisting of 15 library sales staff and 13 trade sales staff has representatives throughout the world taking care of all publications.

Global distribution network. Subscriptions are solicited by library and trade sales staff with international reach to the global market, backed-up by numerous subscription agents throughout the world. Our partner has established a number of international consortia agreements and is planning to expand on this in the future. Our sales strategies guarantee optimal distribution of your publication to libraries and booksellers worldwide.

Dear Alexandra,
Congratulations for this position!
Thank you very much for the shared info.
I'll have a closer look at the sites of the publisher/s.
I am also interested in whether they publish fiction:)))

Best wishes for success and plans for further cooperation,
Gergana Apostolova
