As an individual who encountered the same issue, I can relate to the frustration of finding free partitioning software without annoying trial limitations. However, I discovered a solution for Windows 10.
There are reliable free partitioning software options available, such as MiniTool Partition Wizard and EaseUS Partition Master, which provide comprehensive partitioning features without imposing unnecessary trial restrictions.
I successfully used one of these tools to convert my HDD to a healthy active primary partition, resolving the problem effectively and without any trial limitations.

I would be worried about messing up the master partition table in this scenario. Oddly enough, I would trust a third-party tool (even a trial edition) of partmagic, partition magic, or something similar to do it correctly more than I would trust built-in MS tools. That said, I would also research if MS had put in a more high level tool that might take care of the job.
As said before by another user of this site, when you try to activate the software with the key provided by GAOTD, the result is "Activation failed". I tried it with windows 8 32 and with windows 7 ultimate 64 without luck. Can somebody help?
The installer said it would install the Trial Edition. After I installed and ran the product I clicked the Activate button, entered the code which was apparently recognized as valid since the message below the code changed to say that the Professional Edition would be activated, but when I click the Activate button at the bottom of that dialog I just get an Activation Failed message box.
I have previously installed and activated several versions of the same product, all from giveawayoftheday.com. This install removed the previous version, 9.1, that was installed, so now I have lost my previously installed and activated version.
My experience was exactly the same as LarryF's. Installed and uninstalled multiple times with no luck. The first time I installed, it uninstalled my previous version 9.3 of the program, which I have now lost. I have previously installed and activated many GAOTD programs but have never experienced this problem.
The same here. After installing as trial version I tried to activate by using registration key as supplied, although the message below turned green, the activation failed - can a new activation key be supplied please? (Did EaseUS perhaps decide they have given away enough of their Partition Managers for the day?) My system is Windows 7 Professional fully updated.
Can you please help with a working activation key, Giveawayoftheday.
I also have the same problem.
I tried both a reboot and a second installation but the result was the same..."Activation failed".
My OS is Windows7 Pro 64 bit. I often use this program, but my previous version has now been deleted.
Is there a solution to this?
Same here. I even got a screen with a confirmation code, that I suppose I had to send the code to an email with a hardware key, but I tried to activate it again and was never able to get it back. Please help GAOTD! We want to use this soft to the fullest!
I went to the EaseUS web site and started an online chat, specifying a pre-sales chat for Partition Master. When I said I was installing the giveawayoftheday version and described the problem, the customer service representative immediately gave me a new code to use (so fast he must have already had one ready to past in), and that worked. Unfortunately, when I asked, he said it was a one time use code that I could not post here, nor could I use it on more than one machine if the GOTD code did not work on other machines (I have a number of computers at home and usually install products like this on all of them.)
Based on what Larry posted I'd think that EaseUS simply allocated X number of activations, & when that was exceeded, turned off the tap. That would be consistent with a prior experience I had with a EaseUS giveaway on another site -- had to fill in a request on EaseUS' site, & never did get a response, despite trying 4 or 5 e-mail addresses using different e-mail servers -- I've never had all of them block an e-mail in the past or since, so I assume EaseUS never sent it. If it was a server problem then I would think the EaseUS rep would have said something along those lines, to try with other hardware later. And from the logs it does appear to contact their server for activation.
Reading this thread I tried it several times in different VMs, trying different things, all with no joy. I have this version already installed so I can't really say anything with accuracy about activating in my regular win7 install.
Wow. All those people downloading trial software and thinking they are getting a give away. giveawayoftheday will not post any comments on the download page warning people. I learned a lesson about this site today.
The GOTD team itself is sometimes hesitant to post info on a problem until they have a solution to give you. Generally in a case like this they'll try for a re-run, though EaseUS has to cooperate obviously.
I would like to think this is a EaseUS 'glitch' rather than them pulling the plug early on registrations. Anyone downloading this program at the moment will end up with NO version of EaseUS partition software if the previous versions are uninstalled.
I can't say anything about EaseUS. I don't know them -- have never dealt with them as a customer -- have never posted anything in their forums etc. I would think it reasonable if their sales dept. got an OK for X number of activations, & I would think it reasonable if their tech folks set the activation server to only work up to that number -- the trial & the GOTD seem identical, & they don't want people using that serial number for the next several days, weeks, months. In that scenario they simply guessed too low with the number of activations.
Could it be something more than that? Certainly. While retailers tend to be retailers, bending over backwards for customers, tech companies are very often different, especially the one's in Asia, e.g. South Korea or China. Their definition of unthinkable is often different than yours. What they feel is their responsibility is often different than what you might think they're responsible for. In this case somebody could have felt enough was enough, or maybe they saw signs of piracy & thought they'd put a stop to it? Without info we're likely never to get, one guess is as good as another I suppose.
Well, for everyone!, To enable EPM Pro 10.0, then you have to do as Larry did before, go to their website, enter the live chat and ask for a valid key, the customer service will give you a good key without problems. At this point, I think it is the only way to get the program fully functional, because the GAOTDs team has not said a word until now about how we (or they) can solve this problem.
Goodbye friends!.
Hello, I haven't been online for some hours and didn't notice that there are such problems with today's giveaway.
I'm sorry, that I can't help you, but I notified the GOTD team.
Not sure what happened with the comments, though.
Also, while these free versions may be more limited, if you use my strategy with partition image backups you won't need too much from any partition app. As others have pointed out, there's always the partitioning built into Windows, and if you still have the bootable discs/USB sticks from the prior version of Partition Master, no reason why those wouldn't continue to work.
I'm currently working on a full-chip design by adopting Encounter top-down hierarchical methodology with a master/clone flow on repeated instances defined as black-boxes. According to various steps described in reference documentation (EDI System User Guide, ch. 13 - Partitioning the Design)
everything works fine up to partition and savePartition commands in my design that uses black-boxes. Both pin assignment and trial-routing work properly and all nets that connect to black-box pins are properly trial-routed when invoking the trialRoute command with necessary options. All my problems arise when after saving partition data I try to proceed with the top-level flow. In fact the NanoRoute engine doesn't route nets that should connect to black-box pins with the following strange behaviour as reported in Encounter console:
where CKBD0 is a sample buffer cell that comes with the STD cell library of the technology that I'm working with, whereas UNDEFINED_MODULE is a module that for the moment is not yet specified, hence will be defined as a black-box in Encounter hierarchical flow.
Next I perform a very simple floorplan. Most important, I define my UNDEFINED_MODULE as a black-box using the specifyBlackBox command. As a result UNDEFINED_MODULE becomes a green, unplaced macro on the right-side of the floorplan view:
At this point according to top-down hierarchical flow the block-level implementation (partition) and top-level implementation should become two independent tasks. Maybe someone else is in charge of the actual physical implementation of the committed black-box, but now I want to proceed in top-level design.
This is actually strange, since the black-box has a well-defined size as specified with the specifyBlackBox command. Moreover if I toggle the visibility of the cell content both pins A and B exist, they have a well-defined layer and width/depth:
Since a while ago I've found a solution on my own to this problem I want to share it. It is a matter of fact that NanoRoute routes only LEF-defined cells. As you know the list of LEF file is specified during the design import flow and is stored into the init_lef_file global variable. After partitioning and committing partition data using the savePartition command a LEF file is actually generated for the black-box and saved in the partition directory, along with other partition data ( the .globals script for easy design restoring, floorplan, placement, routing data etc.).
