I am Mandeep Singh Sawhney, a second year undergraduate student pursuing Information Technology at Delhi Technological University  (Formerly Delhi College of Engineering), New Delhi. I am Microsoft Student Partner and an active member at Google Developers Group, DTU. I have a decent experience in developing mobile applications particularly Windows Phone and a little bit of Android. I am Microsoft Certified Professional and have cleared 70-480 certification. I have a good knowledge of C/C++ and honing my Python skills. I have worked on open source libraries such as openCV and GMP. I have qualified for final onsite round of ACM BITS-PILANI (to be held on March 30, 2014).

My Proposal

I would like to propose an app that will help users to learn vocabulary in a new and optimized way. It is simple and based on the concept that human mind can learn fast and remember for longer time if education is given in a graphical way. We would be using a distinct picture or gif image for every word that conveys the meaning in a typical way that is easy to remember.

For example , take the word colander which means a perforated bowl. For this word, we can show a bowl with some holes and water coming out of holes so that the learner can easily memorize the word.

Similarly, we can show the picture of a flag turned upside down which signifies the meaning of flag(verb) (droop, grow feeble).
Hope you would like my proposal to make learning Vocabulary less cumbersome.

Hi Mandeep,

Last minute discussion on new ideas may not lead to anything for this years GSoC. I would suggest to try next year :-)
