Hello!

I am interested in working on the project 'Tell the Time' as part of GSoC 2014. I read the project description and following is what I understood along with my ideas.

I'll build an android application which will help kids to learn more about TIME through simple fun activities. According to my current plan, the application will consist of three parts - 'Learn', 'Play' and 'Apply'. These three levels are arranged corresponding to the level of understanding of the user.

'Learn' is for beginners and it will cover some basic concepts to enable user towards learning concept of time. It will have 3 parts - 'Learn Counting' (make the user learn to count numbers from 1 to 60), 'Learn Five times table' (teach user multiples of 5 to interpret the meaning of minute hand), 'How to watch clock' (some activities for kids which will provide methods to help user to read time).

'Play' is the next level. I assume that by now user is familiarized with reading clocks, so I plan to introduce few games to clear his understanding of time. For instance, a time can be displayed along with four options in form of clocks and user will be asked to select the correct clock.

'Apply' is the final level and its is basically focused towards utilizing the concepts learned so far to help them real time. For instance, a fun interface to set alarm clocks.

This is my basic understanding of the project. I'm also working on some mockups for the user interface which should be final by tonight. Apart from this, I also have some other ideas to make this application even more interesting and fun for kids. I'd like to hear your reviews on this idea. If you think I'm on the right track and can go ahead with this idea please let me know so that I can reply back to you with appropriate design samples.

I've not made it public so if you want to view them, please request for permission.

Awaiting your feedback on my ideas and the mockups.

Regards,

Hi Shubham

Thanks for your interest.

From what it seems, your understanding of the project is correct. Could you put together a proposal and submit to melange? It is high time you do this because there's no time for a draft review.
