Hello,
I am Saurabh Goyal from Jaipur. I am currently pursuing a masters degree in Computer Science. Prior to that I have completed my B.Tech from NIT-Jaipur.
I would love to participate at BuildmLearn for GSOC 2014 in any of following projects
1. Porting the Toolkit to Linux and Mac OS
2. Mobile Application Development
3. Translation Tools
In case of mobile applications (Except Handwriting app) I can develop more than one app for single platform or single app for multiple platform (Native apps, not by using phonegap like tools).
Why not in case of "Practice Handwriting" app ? Because I don't have previous experience of Handwriting trace engines so I am not sure that I can write it for multiple platforms in given time.
Although I have developed only iOS and Android Applications, but I can develop for any platform.
A few of my strong suites are:
Languages :- C/C++, Objective-C, JAVA, CUDA, Matlab
Tools :- Microsoft Visual Studio, Qt, Eclipse, Xcode
Operating Systems :- Windows, Linux, Macintosh, Android, IOS.
Apart from those mentioned above, I am fairly comfortable with Python, JavaScript, HTML and PHP. I have also used OpenGL , OpenCV and Ogre libraries in a few projects I have worked on
.
Although I have been writing code since 2010 but for Considerable experience
1. Before Pursuing M.Tech I have also worked as a full time employee(January 2013 - August 2013) for a start-up company where I developed iPhone, iPad application single-handedly which are available on Apple store. 1.(https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/learn-spanish-culturealley/id691051307?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4) 2.(http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/language-practice/id764149495?ls=1&mt=8)
2. I did my internship during B.tech at a research lab in Germany (May 2011 - August 2011), where
a) I was involved in development of an application to analyze and classify EEG data using GPU computing and Support Vector Machine. it was a team of 4 member.
b) I also wrote a GUI application with Qt in order to load, inspect EEG files and annotate them using histogram matching. I did it single-handedly.
3. During My Internship, The professor was very impressed with my work, so I continued working with him after coming back from internship. (October 2011 - December 2012)
During this period I wrote 4-5 Android application prototype and an xbox application prototype. And later I was also a team member of project "Brain Dancing" (http://www.schwabelab.org/index.php?title=Brain_Dancing).
4. As a academic project during B.tech I Implemented various encryption-decryption algorithms including Elliptical curve cryptography. I also Implemented few of them on GPU using CUDA.
It would be great if I could work at BuildmLearn as a part of GSOC. Please let me know how to proceed further.
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards,
Saurabh Goyal

Once you have a decent proposal draft ready you can request a review if you want. See details here: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/buildmlearn/droaQTxy7aU/L1aQ_aJYxSUJ
if you could describe more about these other ideas, I can include them in my proposal.
I have couple of questions.1. Do all(paid/free) translation api available for python need to be include or only free api ?
2. In case there aren't much translation api available for python (As I haven't looked yet about which translation api are available). Would you prefer to use different language interfaces to use other translation api available for different programming languages ?
3. Do I need to demonstrate anything to make sure I get this project for GSOC ?
