Hi Guys,

To introduce myself, I'm Tejas Nikumbh, Senior UG at IIT Bombay. I have a good amount of programming experience, especially with areas like Machine Learning, Android, C++ Development, Data Scrapping and UI development.  First and foremost, congrats to BuildmLearn for getting accepted in GSoC this year. I went through the ideas list of BuildmLearn and found the ideas to be really innovative in nature. They are self contained and ideas that could actually make a tremendous amount of difference.

I'm specifically pointing towards the Mobile Application Development Idea that lists a number of different innovative ideas for Mobile Application Development. I would be glad to contribute towards this project and dedicate my entire summer [a full 3 month vacation, during the time of GSoC ], towards this project and would be willing to work 40+ hours a week. I am really interested in this idea and would love to propose a draft for one of the Mobile Applications [atleast] ahead of time.

As far as qualifications and coding experience goes, my profile can be found here. I've previously done Contract Development for Stanford/Columbia/Caltech as well as an internship at TRDDC [Tata Reasearch Design and Development Center], Innovation Labs, India. I have made android apps before, precisely a Data Snippet Maker with DBMS support that holds Snippets of Data [lists, for example], which can be rated, filtered according to ratings, added , deleted and viewed.

I am really looking forward to inputs from you awesome people. I wish to improve upon my coding style, and I know the value that a Google Summer of Code provides. I want to extract most out of this opportunity [if I get a chance]. Please let me know about the mentors availability so that I could discuss the project details with them and make a rock solid proposal.

P.S : - As a side note, I'm thinking of applying certain classification algorithms to develop the handwriting app for Kids. May be we could put in a KD-Tree ? Just a thought.

Thanks,

Pankaj Nathani

Thanks Tejas for your introduction and interest in mobile apps.

In mobile apps, there are a bunch of ideas. Can you pick one or two apps that interest you the most, study it, read the threads in this group and try to formulate your plan of action for developing. You need to put together a proposal for GSoC that you would submit to Google starting 10 March.

Regards,
Pankaj.
