Hi,
My name is Javier Gomez. I am a Computer Engineering student, in fact, I am in the process of finishing my last year at University Complutense of Madrid.
I have knowledge about different programming languages such as Java, C, C++, Python, PERL, Prolog, Haskell, web programming (PHP,CSS,HTML5,JAVASCRIPT) and database queries (MySQL, Oracle SQL). I am also learning by myself Android and making some examples by my own.
I worked on a social network at my university, where the people could help other people connected to the social network, for example one person teaches another person to program in PHP and the other person fixes his bicycle in exchange.
My duties in the project were both front-end and back-end programming where I worked with PHP, CSS, HTML5, JAVASCRIPT and MySQL queries.

Now I'm working on my End of Degree Project. I'm doing an ABS language compiler starting from the syntax tree the ABS compiler gives to me, to convert all the information into a data structure to create an ABS profiler. This profiler task is to collect the info of the different concurrent objects to watch their performance depending on different schedules.
I consider myself an involved person, I am always looking for solutions when there are problems in the development of the project and I can learn stuff quickly by googleing it or asking to the people.
Last year I began working as an Intern in Banco Santander and the people were very happy with my job and my progression in there. Now I'm working in Accenture's sub-enterprise Coritel along with my studies.
I haven't done anything about mobile programming apart from the examples for my self-learning, but when I knew about the Google Summer of Code I was really interested to push me to find a great mobile project because everything is now controlled in the palm of our hands.
I was looking for projects in other orgs such as LibreOffice, Twitter, Python, Tox, Tor, but when I reached BuildmLearn I got really impressed about the projects that are been offering here.
I find very interesting developing apps for children, to improve their knowledge and helping them learn things with joy and fun, that's why I am interested on the next projects:
- Practice Handwriting: I like this project pretty much because I remember when I was a kid and I was improving my handwriting. It is true that nowadays kids are more interested on videogames, I think the videogame functionality mixed with the learning is a great area to work in.
My idea is to make different levels of difficulty, as your web page says, with letters, capitals. My idea is, the first levels starts with a point image where the kid has to unite each point to make the letter, I think this is a good method to introduce them to the letters and capitals. The next levels we delete the points and the kid has to write the letter without any help.
I think the project could start with that and whenever the project is growing easy words with a few letters can be introduced and finally words about animals, professions, food.
I also think expanding it to other languages could be perfect, because it is important to know other languages like Spanish or Chinese or French where it is used worldwide.
- Tell the time: Making different modes of this app could be perfect for kids, not only digital displays but also analogical ones can make this app very entertaining. I think making voice recognizer could be fun for the kids to know how to say it and not only know the time watching it.
- Learn from Maps: I also like this one because it is a big improvement to the people culture. How many times have you walked around some historical place and you don't know anything about it. Making a interactive app where you can learn and have fun while you are visiting a place I think is a great idea. Doing test of historical events and also a trivia with some interesting points people have no idea about, this app maybe would impress everyone that uses it.
I hope I can fit on what were you looking for, I would give my best working with you and I’m really motivated with it just reading the project’s description.
Best regards,
Javier Gomez.
