Introduction and Queries regarding University Campus Portal project

Hello developers,

I am Yask Srivastava, 3rd year college undergrad student. I completed my GSoC'15 project last year with Python Software Foundation.
I was going through the ideas page, and University Campus Portal (UCP) project caught my eye.

I am a python fan boy and love working with Django web framework. I have developed and hosted various Django web applications. 
In fact one of my Django side project (JEEQuery.com)  is slightly related to the UCP project. 

I built JEEQuery last year to help college students discuss Physics, Chemistry and Maths questions online.

I have some interesting ideas to add on to the UCP project.

1. Maybe add a portal to let students exchange books in the campus ? 

This will enable college seniors to sell or donate course books to juniors.
I made such portal for my college (BVPmart) and for my brother's college (DTUmart) , and it was successful in both college.

Here is the link for DTUmart : http://dtumart.com/ which currently has more than 100 ads posted by students of DTU.

2. Maybe add some other details in the portal , like college timetable for all branches?

Also, I was wondering if the mentors are available for chatting on IRC channel ?

I guess having configurable categories in the forum should cater to this and many more similar use cases. The categories should be configurable by the moderator / admin.

Sure, you may include this.

We do not have an IRC channel and prefer communication via this group.
