Hello Everyone,

I am Romit Choudhary, a final year undergraduate student at IIT Kanpur. After going through the ideas, I found the idea of developing an Android Framework to create apps for Conference and Events very interesting and matches my skill set to a greater extent.

I have a good amount of experience in developing and designing android apps. In last summers, I interned at a startup in Mumbai and developed a Hyperlocal E-Commerce app for the company's product. My part of work included the development of different modules to be used in the app and also converting the wireframes into XML Layouts. The app is available on the play store and can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.o1

I also developed an app very similar to the idea of University Campus Portal. The app has features such as news & events, discussion forums, and course material sharing. I along with one more friend developed the complete app from wireframes to a fully functional one. The app is available on the play store and can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.project.osmos

One other android project which I worked was "Full stack Android Application to provide an interface between the Government and common people about the status of a public project (WIP)".
More details about this project can be found at:

Working on this project looks really exciting and would love to have discussion about how should I proceed to get started.

Thanks

Hi Romit,

Working on this project looks really exciting and would love to have discussion about how should I proceed to get started.

Since you are already familiar with Android, you may want to jump to the wireframes phase. This is when you design how the application work flow would be like.

I guess there is enough information about the project on the ideas page. Also, do go through some of the recent threads related to mConference project. Please feel free to ask any questions or clarifications about the project that you may have.

Hi Rahul,

As said, I made the wireframes for the android app and also some idea on the web interface for creating XML Files. I am including the link for the wireframes. Please review it and let me know If I am on the right track or not.

Couple of quick comments on your wireframes:
1) You haven't used the platform guidelines at all for the application. I wouls suggest that you go through the Material design guidelines. We would prefer wireframes according to Android Material Design guidelines.
2) Some important screens like "Agenda / Schedule" is missing. Please do include it in your proposal.
3) The web form doesn't require so much work. There is no need for the application preview, it should be a basic form to fill details and generate the XML.

Hi Rahul,

Thanks for the review. Regarding the web form I think providing the context to the user would be much helpful as they would be knowing how would it look after they enter the information.

Thanks,
Romit
