Hi everyone! I'm Aakash Jain, a second year CSE undergrad from Manipal University Jaipur, India. I loved the idea and purpose behind BuildmLearn and I would love to work under your organization for GSoC 2014. I will be drafting my application soon.

I'm interested in working on the Linux port project, the translation project, and bugfixes. I'd like to ask a couple of questions about these.

1. Can these 3 tasks be combined into a single project?

2. I have only recently started working on Qt, 2 months ago, and only for desktop applications. I do not have mobile development experience of any kind, however I am entirely willing to learn it. Could this be considered a hindrance? I am comfortable in C++, and the source code for the toolkit does not seem too daunting to me.

Looking forward to interacting with you.

Hi Akash

Thanks for your interest and find my answers below.

No, they are different projects. You may relevant include bug fixes in your Linux port project but do not merge all the above 3 into one single proposal.

We don't mind if you are not an expert, but we need to see some past work to get an idea about your skills in programming in general. That being said, some mobile applications are very advanced and not for beginners, use your own judgement.

Sir, thanks for your reply! I will restrict my application to the Linux port then.

How about adding Debian packaging to the scope of the project? It would greatly boost the ease of installation of BuildmLearn.

Not to make light of the issue, but I believe this will not be a problem. I am confident that I can learn mobile application development to a sufficient level by the time the project starts. I will, of course, provide links to past work.

Sure, why not!

Great, looking forward to your draft proposal: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/buildmlearn/droaQTxy7aU/L1aQ_aJYxSUJ
