Hi,

I am Ankesh Anand, an undergrad at IIT Kharagpur eager to contribute to the BuildmLearn project via GSoc 2014. I am interested in taking up the "Porting the Toolkit to Ubuntu and Mac OS" project as I have a considerable amount of experience working with C++ and Qt. Here goes my github profile: https://github.com/ankeshanand?tab=repositories

The first phase of the project to port seems to be pretty straightforward. Qt is a cross-platform framework, and there shouldn't be much issues porting the UI. Making this consistent across different platforms is probably the key here. The second phase which is to port the toolkit engine could be bit tricky, since there would be different methods for decompiling and recompiling an android application across different platforms. It would be great if one of the mentors can give some insight into this.

I want to get started by contributing some patches to the project. It would be great if someone can give me some pointers regarding this. Also, what is the preferred mode of development, in Visual Studio or Qt Creator? I will have a look at the Git Reop(https://github.com/BuildmLearn/BuildmLearn-Toolkit) in the meantime to get acquainted with the code.

Thanks

Pankaj Nathani

Hi Ankesh,

Thanks for your interest in BuildmLearn and introducing yourself.

Yes, the Qt framework would allow the UI to work out of the box except for some resolution fixes. The functionality would need to be ported according to platforms - Linux / Mac.

We suggest using Qt Creator. There should be no problems importing and getting the project running with creator.
