Hello,

I am Siddharth Jain, a 4th year undergraduate student at BITS-Pilani, India. I am interested in developing the 'Application to measure sensor data and various parameters'

The project deals with creating a mobile application that uses the Phone's sensors to measure elevation, noise and sound, distance, magnetic field and seismic waves and display relevant graphs and charts.

I have prior experience with using libraries for sensors like accelerometer and microphone while building apps for Windows Phone Platform.

I have completed various Relevant Courses in my college like Data Structures and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming, Graphs and Networks which would be very helpful. Most importantly, I have good experience working with C#. I was the Lecturer for the course ‘Application Development using C#’ in my college.

Since I have familiarity with building Windows 8 Apps as well, I can create a similar app for the Windows 8/8.1 Platform as well. This app could be used on tablets as well. I plan to use C# for this project. I am also open to the idea of building an Android Application as I have some experience with Android App Development too.
I have knowledge of several important AI and ML Algorithms which might prove useful while building an intelligent app.

I have a doubt regarding measuring seismic waves. How do I approach measurement of seismic data using my phone sensors?

Regards,

Hi Siddharth,

Thanks for your interest in the application. We are targeting mobile devices first with this application, so may be you can focus on Android (or Windows Phone since you know C#).

I will let Pankaj answer this but I my guess is that it would be using accelerometer assuming that the device remains idle otherwise :)

Thank You Mr. Rahul for the link. I'll dig deeper into the issue and try to figure out how to do it exactly.
