Hi!

I am Abhijeet Nikam. I am currently in second year studying Computer Science and Engineering in Amrita School of Engineering (Coimbatore), India.

My programming skills include: C/C++, Python, HTML and CSS. I have a good understanding of QT,QML and I know the basics of Git version control system. I am currently extensively going through QML and QT tutorials and learning to build small applications using it. I am using Linux Mint 16 linux distro which is an Ubuntu variant. I admit I am new to open source contribution but I have taken part in many FOSS related workshops and had got selected for Hack-fest Workshop under KDE.

I would love to apply for GSoC with this project. It would be great fun to work with experienced mentors and receive guidance throughout the journey to become a part of it. I believe I have the determination towards my goals to deliver on my goals and not leave out things halfway or unfinished.

I will really appreciate any kind of guidance from mentors related to the project. I would love to start with easy tasks and later take on tough ones in order to build a strong proposal for GSoC 2014.

Regards,
Abhijeet

Hi Abhijeet,

Thanks for your interest in BuildmLearn projects and your introduction.

Since you are looking at 'Porting the Toolkit to Ubuntu and Mac OS' idea, I would first ask if you have already tried the BuildmLearn toolkit?
If not please try it out as a user first. We have a Windows version available.

Then would be the stage when you take a look at our repo on Github and peep into the code. Assess if you are a good fit for the project and if you can make sense of the code.
Also, remember since this task involves porting to Linux / Mac - you need to have a good understanding of atleast one system that you target.

That's it for now, please explore more and do ask if you have any questions. More exploring now would help you write a better GSoC proposal later.

Regards,
Pankaj.
