Hello everyone!

Hello Everyone!

I am Prabhjyot, a student from India. I am a sophomore at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science and am studying Computer Science. I have programming experience in Python, Java/android, C/C++. I have recently started contributing to open source projects and have contributed to a variety of projects in the last quarter.

I would love to work with BuildmLearn on  a GSoC project. I found the '
BuildmLearn Toolkit on Android' and the 'Application to measure sensor data and various parameters' really interesting.

I am an active contributor for Mozilla and Openstack. For Mozilla, a majority of my contribution comes through Fennec bugs.(Fennec is the codename for Mozilla's android browser). I have also been involved with Mozilla Research Projects Rust( the new systems language) and Servo(browser engine). Finally I also contribute code to Openstack Rally(commits), the benchmarking tool. You can find my contributions for Rust, Servo, Rally and maybe some other random projects here.

I am really interested in Open Source Development and love to learn more and more about new technologies and languages. Though I don't have a published android application, I have worked on some interesting bugs with Fennec and would love to learn more about android and work with BuildmLearn for my GSoC project.

I would love it if someone could guide me as to how to proceed with understanding the project ideas in more detail and maybe work on some mini projects that could bring further clarity.

Thanks,

Best Regards,

Hi Prabhjot

Have you developed any Android apps in the past?

Please feel free to ask any specific questions that you have about these project ideas. For general guidance about the project refer to the Details and Expected result sections of the ideas page. More guidance on how you can write a proposal here: https://github.com/BuildmLearn/BuildmLearn-Toolkit/wiki/Guidance-for-Students#project-proposal

Hi Rahul!

I am working on an application these days. I had made some really small applications when I was learning android in the past but unfortunately I have never published an application on the store.
I have installed the BuildmLearn Desktop toolkit and will work on the wireframes for the user interface after exploring the toolkit, Any suggestions before I get started?

Hi Prabhjyot,

It's a good start. I don't have many comments as of now except the following:

In the 2nd screen, there are too many tabs and even if they are swipable the user may not know that there is something next. May be using a side bar would help?

thank you for your suggestion. I had thought of this issue previously. I have several ideas on how to solve it.

I am now working on my GSoC Proposal and the remaining wireframes.
