Hi All!
My name is Sagar Srivastava.I'm a First year student studying at Birla Institute of Science and Technology,Pilani - Hyderabad Campus pursuing B.Tech in Computer.Sc
I have some experience in mobile application development on the Windows phone 8 platform, and i have some ideas about the "Tell the Time Application".

Here's my take on the application-
1.)The app would have an interactive analog clock and a digital one below it showing the corresponding time.Clicking upon the clock would explain the basic features of the clock(the small divisions on the dial, the working of the minutes, hours and second hand etc.) and also when the user changes the position of the the hands of the clock, the corresponding time change would be shown on the digital clock(can be in both 12 or 24 hr format, interchangeable in the settings in the application bar ).

2.)For the Calendar,a page explaining the basic terms like a day, week, month will be there, followed by an annual calendar with months given in tabular form(We could use pictures to depict months,as done in calendars).A minigame can be added asking the user(kids) to find their birthday on the calendar and mark it,their parents, friends' birthday etc.

3.)Many minigames can be added as quizzes to so as to test if the user grasped the concept of time telling,
for example-A title character will be introduced(A sprite maybe, calling him X for now) which would appear to learn with the user, then games could be made such as X woke up at 7:30 AM,his school bus arrives in 30 min.By what time he has to get ready,Show it on the clock(these kind of games)

This is the basic layout that i came up with,I would really appreciate if you could provide some suggestions on how to improve, any additions or deletions upon this so that it could match your implementation of the App Idea.

Thanks!

Hi Sagar

Thanks for your introduction. What kind of apps have you worked on before?

Another thing I would add is an interface where we give time and the kid answers what time it is by moving hands on the analog clock.

Those would be nice exercises. A few mock up diagrams of the user interface could support your proposed ideas.
