Renters Insurance.....Assurant goes away, MSI is the new provider

How are you planning to transition to this new product?

It seems for the middle of the road clientele, it will be fairly painless.
They log in thru their "portal" and make the arrangements.
           (and it's less expensive with equal or better coverage)

But the people who really *NEED* the coverage, are the same folks
who don't have credit cards and liquidity to pay this separately from
their rent ledger.

Suggestions on how to handle?

I don't use them for renters insurance and I'm not sure how many of us really do. That may be why you haven't received any response.

I have 6 that are on the program but until I see that the note is in the tenant portal with the set up I  have not contacted my tenants.  I will probably just send a email letting them know.

We have approx. 80 of our 400 tenants using it.
We urge the Buildium renters insuranc coverage on roommate situations and 
those folks who don't have an automobile policy to "bundle" it with.

Of those 80, approx. 30 don't have credit cards, which is the only method
to pay this new coverage   (which is less expensive than the Assuran product)

That's part of the reason for how other brokers plan to make this transition.

Is there a brokerage out there of any size that has 100% compliance with their
renters insurance requirement?    We find that it's like herding cats.......

I do not use the renter's insurance feature.  It is another Buildium add on that annoys me.  I wish they would improve their core product, aka management software, which would improve their revenue.  Instead, they are only focused on improving their income.

My thoughts exactly. Buildium, or BUM, as we call them seems to think that an endless stream of add-ons will make us forget the basic problems with its accounting software.

We would gladly use the Buildium renters insurance product, but not being able to set payments up for ACH rules out the vast majority of our tenants. We are an affordable-housing group so credit cards are not an option for many of our folks.

That is part of my point/comment/frustation.  They seem to only be focused on increasing income and profit centers without regard for how it impacts their users.
