Good Afternoon
I have spent way to much time trying to figure this out. Does anyone know how to move a tenant from one property to another property and also transfer the deposit to the other property?

Thank you!

we prefer the "non-check" deposit method crediting out of the old
tenant ledger as a "withold deposit" non-check.

and then "receive Payment" as a non-check in the new ledger.
Much easier to trace that way.  Make sure to used descriptive
language in the ledger memo line each time.

that way it's all internal.  Of course you can write an actual
check out of the old ledger, and physically deposit in the new
ledger, but that seems excessive.

and easier later to reconcile.  within the affected bank account.(s)

What Glenn said.  That is what I do.  If you search Buildium's help section for "transfer security deposit," you will find the steps detailed.

Personally, I will never do it again. The one time I did, it turned out that there was a fair amount of tenant damage so then I had to get the funds back from the tenants with no real repercussions.

Have a fantastic day!
