On Cowtown Conversations United Services Community Action Agency (USCAA) is a private non-profit; incorporated in December 1978 to serve the low-income citizens of Jackson, Clay, and Platte counties in Missouri. USCAA provides both emergency and long-term answers to the poverty conditions that affect our citizens. Programs target our youth, ''at-risk'' teens, the elderly, as well as those struggling families and individuals who wish for improved employment, education, and housing opportunities. Community programs seek to impact local poverty issues that are systematic in nature.
 
 Safe Spaces for LGBTQ Adults and Youths May 3, 2018 | 12:00 pm On Sprouts We talk about the importance of safe spaces for LGBTQ people, particularly youth. OutCasting youth participant Lauren talks with Gabby Rivera, an author who at the time of this interview was also the Youth Programs Manager at GLSEN, the Gay/Lesbian/Straight Education Network, an organization that advocates for policies that benefit LGBTQ youth and provides materials and assistance to local GSAs or people who want to start them. Also joining us is Dr. Vinnie Pompei, the director of the Youth Well-Being Project at the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. According to John, “It's like Dixieland, dipped in bluegrass, and salted with Delta blues.”
