Dear Listener,
Tom Klammer is on vacation this week, and here's what he has to say about this Tuesday's show: Next up on Tell Somebody, Nilufar Movahedi, host of KKFI’s Saba, Wind of Love and Sayeh, will be guest-hosting. Movahedi was featured recently on KCUR’s KC Currents and the Walt Bodine Show.

Saba is a show for English speakers, Sayeh is in Persian - the shows are geared towards those interested in in Iranian current events, culture, music and politics. Tune in to Tell Somebody this Tuesday, July 7th, at 6pm Central and hear what Nilufar has to say about recent events in Iran and whatever else is going on.
This Wednesday, July 8th marks the 20th anniversary of my departure from NY to the wide open spaces of KC. I'll be playing some of my favorite NY and KC artists as well as songs about both. Any suggestions? Tune in Wednesday Morning from 6-8am to join in on the fun. At noon, on Sprouts, We'll hear from KZGM, a brand new Community Radio Station in the Ozarks of Missouri. They'll focus on patriotic (or nearly patriotic) tracks from artists like Simon & Garfunkel, Green Day, Whitney Houston, Patrick Juvet, Fozzie Bear, Sissel, Mitch Miller, and others. Two humorous versions of botched attempts at “The Star-Spangled Banner” are featured for entertainment value. Many genres of music are represented in the program, from folk, to disco, to alternative rock, to oldies, and more. At 7pm, on LA Theatre Works, in Oscar Wilde's devastating drawing-room comedy, A Woman of No Importance, devilishly attractive Lord Illingworth is notorious for his skill as a seducer. But he is still invited to all the “best” houses while his female conquests must hide their shame in seclusion. Wilde uses his celebrated wit to expose English society’s narrow view of everything from sexual mores to Americans. Thursday's Heartland Labor Forum at 6pm will have a look at Why Unions Matter with Michael Yates and Young Economists look at the Bailout and the Future. This will segue right into the Thursday Night Special on FDR's Civilian Conservation Corp and the relevance it has today. Bill Clause hosts a two hour jam session on the Local Showcase, from 8-10pm, followed by a very generous KKFI supporter acting as a guest dj on Blended with Artie. |
