Here is an article highlighting potential dangers of the digitally pulsed white spaces frequencies that are being de-regulated in the USA and other places now.

"Why should we be worried?

Instead of TV analogue frequencies that are used for television in the 54-698 MHz range, these White Space devices will now use PULSED DIGITAL waveforms which are highly biologically active that have been proved to be harmful. WiFi currently uses PULSED DIGITAL on higher 2.4 gigahertz frequencies thatcannot penetrate thick concrete at long distances and thus you get a slow speed connection resembling dial up. By using the lower TV frequency spectrum (54-698) MHz as a carrier wave, the PULSED DIGITALWiFi signal will now be able to penetrate obstructions such as buildings over great distances and deliver high speed broadband data."

Anyone care to comment?

Specifically, does anyone know whether work is going on anywhere to make the pulsing of digital data and voice transmission inherently less dangerous?

Some say this could be done by breaking and randomizing the pulsing frequencies. Anyone knows of any work going on to do this?

Sepp

It might be worth asking members of the ham radio community who are
familiar with RF exposure phenomena what they think of this They'd
have the background to interpret and explain the specifics one way or
another.

Good questions, Sepp. I'm glad someone is raising them. The theoretical mechanism of harm is plausible, but I don't know of any research.

Sounds like UWB, ultra-wide-band, which multiplexes across many frequencies with a low enough tranmission energy to get under the FCC reporting requirements.  I kinda hope freedom box will actually make use of it...
