Kiva API data snapshots now show who lent to whom

As many of you know, we offer zipped json and xml data snapshots that include information on all publicly visible loans and lenders. 

Many people have expressed interest in studying the relationship between loans and lender demography.  To make this easier, we've now added a third snapshot called loans_lenders, which shows which lenders have lent to each loan.  Anonymous lenders are not shown.  It's included in both the json and xml snapshot downloads.

If you're working with the snapshots, you may want to download the latest one and have a look.  This is somewhat experimental.  As always, let us know if you have any questions or feedback.

Dear Noah,

I am doing research on Kiva. I have just downloaded data snapshots today but find that it cannot be converted into excel. Actually, I downloaded data snapshots in xml in Sept. 2013 and I remembered that it could has been well inputted in excel (not in text) when I opened files. But, it seems I cannot open the current snapshots in excel. I have tried to use xml converter but it doesn't work. Could you please let me know how I can open the snapshots in excel. Thank you so much.

I don't use Excel much myself, but others on the list do.  Anyone have an answer for Kailin? 

I'd expect the XML files to open in Excel.  Which particular file or files did you try to open, and did it give an error message?
