Hi all,

 

Just a quick update. After researching consultants (talked to 3), they all seem to be ~$3-6K for the smallest scope of work (Board retreat with pre-planning and post-analysis), and ~$10-12K for a more extensive strategic planning process. The Goldseker Foundation has grants to fund exactly this type of organizational planning, so I’m applying to see if we can get a grant to pay for the consultant.

 

But, we need to identify 2-3 people in addition to Tom and Sarah who will head up the initiative if we get the grant. The whole Board will participate in the retreat and generating the ideas, but we need a couple people to meet with the consultant before and after to help her get a sense of who we are, what we need, hammer out a concrete series of steps, etc.

 

If you’re willing, could you let me know before tomorrow so I can include you on the list that I need to submit with the grant application?

Thanks for doing this research and work, Lisa.
Do we have a sense of when all of this would be happening? 
I'd be happy to play a greater role in this, but with multiple projects coming up, the timing is critical.

Hi Ryan,

 

This is the timeline that I included in the grant application:

 

1.       (June 2017) Strategic planning committee will work with the consultant to determine the

agenda for the Board retreat and identify important issues to be addressed.

 

2. (June) Secretary provides initial data to the Board and consultant documenting past BUGSS

activities, metrics of their effectiveness, and whether or not each program has been sustained.

Staff members collect additional materials about BUGSS history and mission as requested by

consultant.

 

3. (early July) Board retreat to address the three issues identified in this proposal and any

modifications or additional issues identified by strategic planning committee

 

4. (late July through September 2017) Strategic planning committee holds 3 working sessions

to: 1) finalize mission and vision statements, 2) create short-term objectives and timeline, and

3) create assessment metrics.
