Is P5 Royal Worth It If You Played P5

Igot into naval forces recently and somehow I felt interested on british royal navy. But the experience I'm getting playing with rank 1 boats are not great. I have a lot of guns but most of the time the US reserve boat can just tear me down faster with those two machine guns.

I have almost the ships of all nations and i tryed them all. The British has some of the best boats at rank 1 and 2 so i dont know what you are takling about. They are much better than the Americans who have nothing worth talking about before the LCS. The British have the Vosper which are ok, the MBGs which are good and the Dark Class which are among the best boats out there. And last they have the Brave Class and the SGB.

You can live without the Belfast... the Southhampton, the Leander and the Tiger are pretty good cruisers and can give the others a fair fight. One big plus about the British are they have a lot of good planes to choose from too.

Royal Navy has been great for me, most of the ships are decent, at 5.0B R and up things get really nice. As mentioned the Belfast, Southhampton, Leander and Tiger are beast mode, making it very easy to pull alot of RP as well as decent SL. Things are looking up for the Royal Navy gents.

I main GB and have dabbled in other nations. In my opinion just as in Air and Ground tech trees British are dependent more so on player skill to make the most out of a rather average vehicle pool, however based on what I own there are a few highlights that will make it worth the time.

The Brit cruisers are decent...I like the Leander and love the Southampton. The Arethusa is a bit of a let down but not due to any real fault on its part, and because I already had the Leander. I think the biggest letdown is the Hawkins. The Germans have the Spee at the top, The USA has the Pensacola, The Japanese have the Mogami....and the Brits get a dumpy Hawkins....what a kick in the teeth...especially when you have the County class or Town class that would have been right at home.

The Hawkins... My God the Hawkins. What a farce that was . Ah yes let's give Britain a heavy cruiser that was decommissioned twice and is severely outdated compared to all it's contemporaries in game.

I do not see any problem here. The nations got their first heavy cruisers in their respective navies as they were commissioned. This linear progress is better than just giving everybody something comparable.

Bummer, that the Germans did not have anything comparable to those... Tough luck. Gotta suck it up.

No they didn't. The US got the Pensacola a much new cruiser than hawkins, the first sorta Heavy cruiser for the US Navy was Omaha which was developed around the same time as Hawkins. Pensacola is a treaty heavy cruiser similar to County or York classes.

The cruiser line is awful. Not as awful as the Italians, mind you, but that's already the level of comparison. Most other ships around you and opposite you are simply on a whole 'nother level. HMS Kents is quite fun (if you ignore the idiotic repair costs) but only because most people shoot the wrong kind of ammo at it. It has virtually no armour, so HE would be the way to go. On any cruiser, the fact that bridges are entirely un-armoured means that an average hit against the funnel renders your ship uncontrollable for 20-odd seconds. Or a hit anywhere near the bridge, including and especially fired from random AI-controlled enemy secondary batteries. When you come to the battleships, that's when things truly start to become depressing. At higher repair costs than the IJN Hyuga (for reasons nobody in their right mind can explain) your ships have crappy guns with an awfully slow reload, a tendency to explode and no way to stand their ground against virtually any other battleship. Soviet/Russia gets super-dreadnought-era dreadnoughts that perform very well. The new Italian battle ship follows the same concept. Germany has its swimming bunkers that are also quite decent. Japan has the Hyuga, a single one of which can wipe out two entire enemy teams. And the American battleships suck at dishing out damage, but at least they can take a beating before they go down. British battleships can't even do that. They suck. There is no other way to describe them. They are completely outclassed, empty your SL-account and leave nothing but woe and frustration if you attempt to play them. If only the guns were accurate. They aren't. If only you could pen other ships at a range. You can't. I've spent entire matches pounding the crap out of other nations' battleships until they noticed me, as though I were a pesky fly, and swatted me to death within three quick salvos.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if the repair costs weren't so high. Yeah, sure, the ships suck. But they are way older designs than most other nations' ships, so that's alright. But they've got the highest damn repair costs of all. How does this make sense? Why?

Since I've started other naval trees, this view of things has only become solidified. I wholeheartedly regret every minute I have spent trying to grind the British tech tree and make it work somehow, as well as the millions of SL I have lost because of it. It's a waste of time. Stop. Don't even try. Forget about it and move on. Yeah, Britain has a stellar reputation where the seas are concerned. That's why I started it. But it's just not worth it in this game.

The destroyers are....ok. They are not anything really special, although the Battles have pretty good AA. The Enterprise is pretty meh, as well as the Arethusa. The Leander is decent enough provided that you keep in mind that its a light cruiser. I didn't even bother with the Hawkins (although I really should one day). Kent is decent, guns are pretty punchy, but she is squishy. Dreadnought for me was a bit of a letdown, but I am still trying to figure out how best to play her. As for the rest of them I don't really know yet. My current grind is the NoDak but that is slow because the US CA's are.....less then stellar in my book. I keep hoping that they will stick in either the Orion class or Iron Duke class to get the British a little more competitive...the 12/50's are....at bit lacking...

If that was the case, there is a significant arguement that the Northampton, Portland and Pensacola be classified as light cruisers since that is what they were originally designated as.
