Happy New Year!!
We have had a decent response to the message below thus far, but we are still in need of at least another 200 people (about ½ of our community) to follow these directions! Time is running out. Please take the time to follow these directions NOW so that you are not left behind!! We have built up a great MI Banner community, and I don’t want to see any gains we have made lost. This is a community, and it only works when we are all engaged!!
Thank you,

Subject: [BUGMI Post:] Action Required: Moving BUGMI to The Commons
Importance: High
IMPORTANT: You must take action by Jan 17, 2014 in order to continue to receive information from the BUGMI community!! BUGMI Posts are being discontinued!
As most of you know from past communications on this topic, BUGMI is making the move into the Commons. Hopefully, most of you have heard of, and even use, the Commons since we are all Banner schools. The goal of the Commons is, “An online community where Ellucian customers and employees can share experiences, ask questions, find answers, and connect to a collaborative and informed network.”. Our thought is that since one is required to log into the Commons to participate, it will be a better place for our interactions to take place. Plus, more and more is taking place in the Commons every day, so being an active participant in this community is beneficial beyond BUGMI.
So, what is changing?
1. We will retain the www.bugmi.org website so that we continue to have a presence on the web, but the website will be limited to a main “home” page showing the member institutions of BUGMI, and some information about the fact that we are active in the Commons, and likely not much more.
2. The “BUGMI Posts” Google Group will be shut down and all communications that used to go through this channel will now go through posts in the Commons.
3. Files that you used to reference off of the BUGMI website will now be found in the BUGMI community’s wiki and/or library within the Commons.
4. All users will have the ability to post files into our BUGMI community on the Commons. Hence, if you want to share something with 1 or more schools, you will now be able to do this by posting the document in there.
What do you need to do right NOW (IMPORTANT – Must complete all 3 steps)?
1. If you are NOT already a member of the Commons, then you will need to sign up for the Commons by clicking here, filling out this simple form, and then submitting it. It should only take you about 2 minutes to complete the form, and this is the only way to join the Commons. Within a few minutes, you will receive a confirmation email from sup...@edu1world.org. Edu1world hosts the Commons for Ellucian.
2. Once you are signed up in the Commons, you simply need to navigate to the BUGMI community by clicking here. That is it – once you visit our BUGMI community (even once), you are now a BUGMI community member.
3. To start to receive email notifications from the BUGMI community when our peers post new information, you MUST configure your email notification settings. If you do NOT do this, then the only way you will see the postings from your peers is if you come back into the BUGMI community within the Commons, and read the posts there. Completing the email notification setup is very easy, and only takes about 2 minutes to complete. If you are not sure how to do this, you can follow these steps provided by Ellucian, you can watch this <4 minute video on this topic (sorry, making instructional videos is not my expertise!!), and/or you can use the info I have provided below to help you accomplish this task.
That is it!! Once you complete all 3 of these steps, you are all set up in the BUGMI community within the Commons, and you will immediately start receiving email notifications that are posted in our community going forward.
Our current “BUGMI Posts” will be disabled at ~5 pm on January 17, 2014. All future communications will need to take place via posts in the BUGMI community within the Commons. Please watch this introductory video (< 5 mins) (again, not perfect, but it will get you started) to understand some of the basics of using the BUGMI Community.
Basic Steps to Set Up Email Notifications in the BUGMI Community:
1. Log into the Commons
2. Navigate to the BUGMI Community
3.
Click on the “My Workplace” link at the top of the page

4.
Click on the Email Notifications tab

5.
Scroll down until you see the Banner Users Group of MI community

6. Make your selections. If you don’t know what to pick, then choose Instant for all of them for now, and you can always come back and change these at any time if you are not happy with these settings.
Please let me know if you have any questions on any of this.
Thank you!

Hello,
Per my earlier email, if you have NOT signed up for BUGMI in the Commons yet (~1/3 of you have not), please follow the directions at the end of this email string by no later than 5 pm on February 7, 2014.
We really don't want to lose you as part of our BUGMI community. Please take the time to join us in the Commons!!
P.S. I know the email below is lengthy, but that is because I am trying to ensure you have every piece of info you need to successfully join the BUGMI Commons. For most, it really only takes a few minutes to join. Please do so TODAY!
Thank you!

Hi Anna, et al.,
Good question... actually, it will be moving. I have already moved all pre-2013 info there (in the Library - See clip below). I will move the 2013 conference info there in the near future.
Please let me know if you still have questions on this.
Thanks,
