Hi everyone,

I know this is the week for SCALE. So I was wondering if we are still having our regular Thursday meeting?

Also, it would be good to have a session on understanding the Bugmark code. We really need this to make progress on experiments and data. However given that you might all be busy with SCALE etc. this week, could Andy and anyone else who knows the code help me do it on my own?

Here is what I need to know:

1) I can download my own branch of the code on my computer (https://github.com/bugmark/bugmark). How do I run the Bugmark research server and UI so that it executes the code from my branch?

2) What is a good development environment to put a breakpoint and step through the code for a simple action (e.g., create an offer)?

3) Where would you recommend putting the breakpoint? Should it be in one of the controllers?

4) If I put print statements in the code, where will it print -- on my terminal command line or elsewhere?

5) Anything else I should know?

Thank you for your help!

Best,
Malvika

Hi all,

No regular Bugmark meeting this Thursday, March 8.

Andy, I'm interested in the answers to Malvika's questions, too.
Malvika should be working in her own fork and sending PRs, right?

@malvika - send me an invite and let's get started!  I'm available tomorrow / Thurs, and also next week.  Generally: you're going to be most efficient working at the CL level.  Step one will be to write a bot, submit a PR for the bot.  Beyond that: I'll be happy to give you a guided tour thru the code.  I can also setup a dev environment for the server itself and show you how to debug / tweak / etc.

Thank you Andy! I will send invite shortly.

Don and Georg are also interested. Don, how does tomorrow around 3 or 4 pm ET look?

All other bots we have designed depend on the trivial bot working fully. So tomorrow let's get to the Bugmark code directly and how to work with it.
