I met with the 21st Century Provider group who administers after school programs.
Every provider was agreeable to have the Open Airwys for Schools (OAS) program offered during their program.
Two schools targeted for the Open Airways for Schools (OAS) asthma pilot are #30 & #18. Both these schools have the 21st Century Programs. Principals have been notified.
The start date is Monday, 4/25. Sessions will be held on Mondays and Thursdays for three weeks.
The school nurses will:
Identify 3rd, 4th, 5th grade students with asthma for the program (10 would be great for the program so look for at least 15).
Collaborate with the 21 Century Coordinator on which students are in that program
Incentives for students that complete the all program session is being explored (any ideas and/or available funds).
Next BPS Asthma Project meeting is scheduled Monday, May 2nd at 2:30 PM at D'Youville
