HI,

Been a while since this list has been active. I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.

I teach web design at UB and Buff State and one of my lectures covers website accessibility (WCAG 2.1).

I would like to find out if anyone in the Buffalo area is using a website plugin, such accessiBe.

It would be great to hear your thoughts on this topic.

Thanks,

Jim…

One of the NPR-based podcasts of mine talked about this a few months ago. Not that plugin, but details like adding the ALT tag to photos, and so on. How many different CMS types does that plugin work on?

Thanks for the reply.

AccessiBe in a web page JavaScript plugin and is not CMS specific.

The main problem is that most of what I research tells me that these types of plug-ins do more harm to a hearing/sight impaired web user. They require the user to turn on/off the features. Also, sight-impaired users complain that it makes it harder to move about a web page.

My opinion is that the best way to have an accessible web page is to put in the work with your developers and marketing and web page maintainers to test on a regular basis.

Thanks,

Jim…
