Hey all - working on documenting the gives and asks manually until we develop a better capture method. Here's what we had to share this morning. Great seeing everyone!

  • Jer from DRC who has been with Vive La Casa over a year, which helps migrant families in Buffalo. 716 Ministry (who works with Vive) invited him here. They provide legal service, accommodations, and means. Ask is donations, volunteers for improving the building, and his offer is to connect companies with migrant job-seekers.
  • Ray Zielinski from the Olmsted Center for Sight. Their focus is improve lives of visually impaired of all ages.  Breaking Employment Barriers is an hour long session where they explain how people with visual impairment could do XYZ job for XYZ company. Hoping to talk about software compatibility for visually impaired with anyone interested.
  • Mike Castellani is a systems engineer on clean tech. Wants to talk to anyone in this space. Offer to help in systems architecture work and share his expertise.
  • Philip Glick is a pediatric surgeon and liaison between the UB MBA program and medical school. No ask, just wanted to introduce himself to the community.
  • Art Hall is a new project manager at the Northland campus where they’re creating an incubator space. They are doing a business network series on there on 7/25 from 6-8pm. The address is 683 Northland. His give is connecting to resources on the east side of Buffalo.
  • Harshita Girase is a recent UB grad and software engineer at Torch also working with Buffalo water board. Her give is that she can connect to the student community at UB and can personally give you her time for things like design critique. If you have user research or human centered design help needed, she’d love to talk. She’s an organizer for startup week as well.
  • Gentleman who works in business development at UB (didn't catch your name if someone could reply with that). Specifically focuses in health and life sciences. Give is potentially funding in life sciences, and finding interns from UB.
  • Justin Callaghan is a UX designer at M&T. Give is design, business innovation, and marketing workshops. Ask is for people to sit down with mom and pop shops that need help.
As a reminder, anyone with expertise/mentorship to offer, feel free to add your office hours as a give at the bottom of the page here (courtesy of Jon Gorczyca).

See you next Tuesday!
Andy
