Aargh!
I messed up with
copy and paste. Big Time!
I'm trying again.
Long awaited,
highly regarded, death defying, database seminar coming very
soon now to a
Buffalolab near you..
Once again, I'm trying to reach a broad audience by posting to several places. Once again, I apologize for the duplicates you may receive.
The first meeting
of the database seminar I am starting is scheduled for
September 26 at
BuffaloLab.
(http://www.meetup.com/buffalolab/events/78158552/). It's also
on
nextplex
(http://nextplex.com/buffalo-ny/calendar/events/651-database-seminar-coming-to-a-buffalo-lab-near-you).
Quite a few of you expressed interest. So far a small number have rsvp'd. I probably announced much too early. I'd appreciate if you would rsvp at meetup if you plan to attend.
I'll save you going to meetup to find out what I'm talking about. The downside is that it will make this note much longer than it would be otherwise.
This is the first Database Systems Seminar at Buffalo Lab. The Chief Instigator, Charlie Wertz, will provide an overview of relevant topics based on the history and evolution of database systems. With a little luck, this will not exceed one half hour to forty-five minutes. The remainder of the meeting will be devoted to comments from those in attendance. We want to determine your interests and willingness to add value.
The word seminar is used rather than class or meetup because the goal is to learn from each other. Charlie is prepared to present further on data systems, DBMS concepts, relational systems, and so on, but this very definitely is not intended to be a one person show. We will also be looking for sponsors and outside speakers. Charlie is also looking for a co-organizer, preferably a BuffaloLab member.
There will be no formal charge for this meeting, but we will be looking for a donation to cover food, soda, and beer. Any extra will go to the lab. If anyone wants to jump up and be a sponsor (contact Charlie out of band at CJW...@gmail.com), we can waive the food donation, but we'll still solicit a donation for the lab. Please rsvp and keep your rsvp current so we know how many will be coming.
I can promise that if you attend you will become healthier, wealthier and wiser; your cholesterol level and blood pressure will approach the optimum; beautiful people will pursue you proffering scads of money; and, your wisdom will increase exponentially. Would I deceive you about this?
