I had a nice chat today with David Moffitt at @coworkingroc (http://
coworkingrochester.com) - he's doing some great things out that way,
and might have some advice for Buffalo entrepreneurs looking for a
model. In particular, check out his current pricing structure:

$12/day or $95 for 10 “flex” days**
$155/mo for unlimited days
+$100/mo for reserved desk & 24/7 access

**“Flex” days expire 60 days from purchase.

That's about $100 cheaper than 327 Niagara's base price (with the 24/7
access option), in a space that welcomes user groups (we talked about
him hosting mine in its Rochester months).

It's also worth noting that while David's doing very well with Coworking, he started it with a primary goal of creating a decent work environment for his own loose federation of employees -- himself, a designer, one or two coders, and a meeting space for clients. Whether Coworking was wildly successful wasn't as much of a concern as was not sitting at home and, as he put it, "eating Cheetos with the cats all day."

So it'd be nice if a small, independent web firm or two decided they, too, wanted a great environment to trade ideas in.

Thanks for the context, Kevin. I would need a couple of partners in
such a venture, and have very similar goals. Minus the Cheetos
incentive. In fact, trying to find that collective of people is how
this thread started in Open Coffee. There have been a lot of voices
between here & there, but very few hands raising. The 327 Niagara
space is an "almost it" space, but feels focused on filling offices
(even shared ones) in a very traditional sense. I'm still hot on that
option, but am encouraged by further discussion on this topic.

Steve's post on Elmwood Village Creative casts them as similar to
David's start, from what you're describing. I'm going to be contacting
them tomorrow about stopping by some time.

Update: I'm hosting my drupal user group (twitter: @wnydrupal) at
Coworking Rochester in July. I'll also be coworking there for the
afternoon preceding our evening meeting. Further reports as I have
info, but I'm really looking forward to it.
